Pity the fool who doesn’t respect Mr. T’s mama.
The actor was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday, honored for a wrestling career that began in 1985, when he became Hulk Hogan’s tag-team partner at the very first WrestleMania.
"The A-Team" star used the opportunity to thank — repeatedly, and at length — his mother for her love and support.
“Now, my story and background is not that unique. My upbringing is not so different from many others,” said Mr. T, whose mother raised him and his 11 siblings by herself. “But who knows? Somebody might be inspired and maybe some wayward teenager just might find his way back home.”
The crowd at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans later broke into a “This is awesome!” chant in support of Mr. T, but the self-proclaimed “old-fashioned mama’s boy” shared his admiration for so long, his speech got cut off.
Wrestler Kane interrupted Mr. T’s tribute to his “mama because it was cutting into my time to talk about my daddy.” Kane was referring to WWE manager Paul Bearer, his storyline father whom he was inducting into the Hall of Fame posthumously.
Other inductees into the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame included Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Ultimate Warrior, Razor Ramon, Lita, and Carlos Colón.
