The Goonies' Director Richard Donner Says Sequel is in the Works

The Goonies director Richard Donner says a sequel to the beloved 1985 film is on the way.
In a video shot by TMZ, the Superman helmer is asked if he would ever do another comic book movie. “If you call Goonies a comic book,” he replies. “We’re doing a sequel.”
When pressed which cast members from the original Warner Bros. film will return, Donner says, “Hopefully all of them!”
Warner Bros. didn’t immediately return our requests for comment.
Sean Astin told IGN in 2012 that he’d absolutely be on board for a second film. “It will happen. I’m 1,000 percent certain there will be a sequel. I will bet my children on it.”
However, Corey Feldman then said, “Oh my god, I'm not betting any child on this matter.”
Like Dan Aykroyd hyping Ghostbusters 3 for over a decade, I’ll believe it when we’ve got some production dates — even tentative ones — to talk about.
