How come there isn't a section for 1940s sitcoms?

There were a number of sitcoms in the 1940s, including Mary Kay and Johnny (1947-1950), The Growing Paynes (1949-1950), and The Aldritch Family (1949-1952).

Also, how come How to Marry a Millionaire (1957-1959) isn't listed in the 1950s sitcoms section? That show was airing in re-run syndication at least as late as the 1980s; I'm sure some people here must remember it.

We could mix radio shows of the 40s in with the shows since there were only a few tv shows. I wish I could listen to radio shows on my radio.

In early 1948, still broadcast live, the show was also recorded on kinescopes so that it could be shown, with some delay, on the West Coast. The entire series from then until 1950 was recorded in this way. Many episodes survived in full as late as 1975,[citation needed] when DuMont's corporate successor, Metromedia, disposed of what was left of the DuMont archive in the East River.

The fate of the NBC episodes is unknown. Fragments of the show's last few episodes survive, most on 16-mm film; these are not commercially available, though TV Land used a clip in an episode of Inside TV Land called "Taboo TV".[3]

Wiki doesn't discuss the fate of any copies of The Aldrich Family episodes, but I'd be surprised if there's much out there.


Not sure that there's really much to discuss in terms of the TV series themselves. Very few episodes survive, and chances are, very few people, if any, in these forums have actually seen the episodes from those series.
The moderators probably assumed that there wouldn't be much interest in such a category.

I like the idea of having "old radio show" discussions. There are some web sites that have archived radio shows from series of all kinds...comedies, detective, dramas, etc. I've listened to some episodes of old radio shows, and I love them.

Wouldn't a section for the 2010s decade make more sense? Every decade has a board except that one.

i want a 1940's section too, those shows were awesome.
