"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Enlists Patton Oswalt for Guest Role

Patton Oswalt has landed a guest-starring role on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", Marvel announced on Thursday.

The comedian,will play Agent Eric Koenig, who first appeared in the comic as one of Nick Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) original team of Howling Commandos.



"When they first told me the character's name, I'll admit the first thing I did is I went on Wikipedia and looked up the M.O.D.O.K. character to see if Koenig was maybe his name before he became M.O.D.O.K., but it wasn't," Oswalt said.

"They keep on talking about the Clairvoyant in the show and I'm like, 'Is that M.O.D.O.K.? Am I M.O.D.O.K.?"

The Koenigs return!

EW has learned exclusively that Patton Oswalt will reprise his role as Koenig brothers Sam and Billy in the upcoming Jan. 31 episode of "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.".



Titled “Hot Potato Soup,” the episode finds Sam and Billy being hunted down in a bid to get at the Darkhold, and only Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Co. can save them — but viewers may also get some long-awaited answers!

“Patton Oswalt returns as the Koenigs, and we finally reveal their family secret,” executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen tell EW.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is bringing back a familiar face during its final season: Patton Oswalt — who has played assorted members of the Koenig family — will appear in an early episode of the ABC series’ farewell run, CBR.com reports.

There are no details about Oswalt’s role.
