"The Walking Dead" Gets Off-Net Run on MyNetworkTV

"The Walking Dead" is expanding its reach. AMC has made a pact with MyNetworkTV to give the broadcaster an exclusive off-net debut of TV's top-rated show starting this fall.

“This agreement extends the reach of the number one show on television among adults 18-49 by giving viewers primetime access to The Walking Dead with back-to-back episodes on broadcast television one night a week,” said AMC president Charlie Collier.

“The Walking Dead has grown in each of its first four seasons on AMC, and we look forward to exposing this compelling story and these unforgettable characters to new fans on MyNetworkTV.”





This first off-net deal for "The Walking Dead" comes at the end of its fourth season as it hits 51 episodes. It remains TV's top-rated program among adults 18-49, outperforming everything on broadcast and cable. The series

“We are fired up that MyNetworkTV will be the exclusive broadcast home to The Walking Dead,” said 20th Television president Greg Meidel.

“As we enter the 2014 upfronts, the blockbuster program, which breaks the mold of conventional television, further enhances 20th Television’s media sales slate of hit comedies, dramas and first-run programming.”





Fox International Channels already distribute the series worldwide, where it also ranks No. 1 in many territories and often airs day and date with AMC. MyNetworkTV airs in 97 percent of the country, on Fox Television Stations in many markets.

“It's not often you get to add the hottest show on the planet to your lineup,” said Fox Television Stations senior vp programming Frank Cicha. “We just did, and it's a tremendous get for our stations.”
