Angus T. Jones Says He Was a “Paid Hypocrite” On CBS’ "Two And A Half Men"

Angus T. Jones, formerly the highest-paid child actor in TV history, says he was a “paid hypocrite” during his time on CBS‘ comedy "Two and a Half Men" because he “wasn’t OK” with being “part of something that was making light of topics in our world where there are really problems for a lot of people.”

Jones, now 20 and a student at the University of Colorado in Boulder, talked to Houston TV station KHOU over the weekend; he was in town to speak at the World Harvest Outreach, a Seventh-Day Adventist congregation, the station said.

“I really want to come into the light because I know that is where the healing is and I’ve seen God do amazing things,” Jones said.

World Harvest Outreach Church Pastor James R. Doggett Sr told the station, “I’m not sure Jones cares a whole lot about being an actor or being well known, in that regard.”





Referring to his 2012 video where he blasted his former sitcom, Jones said that while he is “apologetic for having totally insulted Lorre's baby,” he doesn't regret what he said.

When he left the show, Jones was making about $350,000 per episode. Over the weekend, Jones told the TV station he’s not giving up acting for good. “There’s a few different productions that I’d like kind of Bible-based stories. Stuff like that.”

I'm all for finding yourself, but if your making $350,000 an episode, its hard to feel sorry for you. If it wasnt for Two and Half Men, would anybody ever hear of Angus T. Jones?

You know how many people would like to make $350,000 an episode? Hell, do you how many people would just want a job?

It's hard to take him as credible when he looks like a homeless bum. Too bad, he was just finally starting to look good.

Exactly. He was a kid, now he has his own opinions. Good for him.

You can still be strong in your convictions about God and still do your job as an actor. There are some jobs that an actor does not have to take if they are uncomfortable. I'm a strong Christian myself but feel as though Angus came down hard on Chuck and the show. It may be vulgar but if he were seasoned more, then he'd understand that is the way of world in some instances. He didn't do anything too over the top on the show. If he feels that some of his dialogue is questionable then express it with the writers while staying true to the character. You don't go and bite the hand that feeds you. Most new believers do that. They get overzealous. I think that is what he had a case of but he will have to continue to come into his own regarding the matter. If I were him, I would appreciate the fact that I had work and making 350,000 per episode. If I felt that I did not want to participate anymore, then I'd have to request to leave but do it respectfully.

I do applaud him for wanting to do the right thing in his heart and wish him the best. I hope he can still continue to work successfully.

You have to respect a guy who is willing to walk away from $350,000 a week in order to take a stand for his personal beliefs. That takes courage! And Faith!

there are a lot more things wrong in this world than the moral values expressed in the jokes on one TV show - if he really wants to make the world a better place then he should do so with his actions, not by criticizing others who are doing the exact same thing he used to do to make a living.

RobyRob and Marv I do agree with both of you. I would not have bashed the show in the way he did at the time. You use wisdom when it comes things. Now, if he was happy to walk away from all of the money, then good for him. Sometimes, money is not always the answer to happiness but don't act out because of someone else's influence or POV. Make sure you come into your own and handle things the right way.

I don't have to respect him and I don't. It doesn't take faith and courage to walk away from that, it takes stupidity. If he stayed on the show, he could have socked that extra money away for his kids (when he has them) college or whatever. Maybe he should have thought about someone else for a change.
