I'm thinking about getting one of these, but I have 2 questions do you have to have a monthly subscription? Do they replace your cable box? How much do they cost? (ok, that's 3. So sue me!:lol: )

I had one. The monthly fee is $19.99 and the box itself costs around $100 (possibly more depending on which box you get.) It can replace your cable box, but you will need a cable card from your cable company (mine charges $1.99 a month for it.)

I bought mine when I did not have cable because I could have a DVR for over the air broadcasts, plus access to Netlfx, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime, etc on my TV. I kept it after I got cable because of convenience. I recently ended my subscription because my 2nd box in 4 years quit working. They said it was because I recorded too much on the box and my recordings were at 99% causing it to freeze. The first time they replaced the box for free because it was under warranty (without telling me that having recordings at 99% would cause it to quit working) and the 2nd time they blamed me for it and said my replacement box wasn't under warranty. They tried to get me to upgrade to a more expensive box(at my expense) and I said no. My cable company charges $15.99 a month for a DVR box and I can get Netflix, etc on my blu-ray player so that is cheaper for me anyway.
