I have always wondered what kind of insurance there for actors who might die in a course of a popular series, especially for younger and child actors.
Say for instance, if one of the children of shows like The Middle or Modern Family gets killed in a car accident for example. Sort of have to have a "special episode" and it would basically ruin the show, leading a popular series to cancellation. Whereas a older character, like Ed O'Neill for example could be more easily written off as old, and the characters can move on.
Has a juvenile actor ever die during a course of a show? I think for a show like The Middle, it would be devastating. The payout would not recoup the profit the show would make, and it would be a bummer in syndication, "It's the kid who was killed in the fiery car crash!"
Makes me wonder how this works.
