1) Character changes-- For whatever reason they changed both main character's personalities. I mean, being a babysitter means Sam has to be responsible. iCarly's Sam Puckett was decidedly irresponsible. They've changed Cat from quirky to just plain stupid. Cat's character doesn't make sense now. And let's face it, iCarly's Sam Puckett would never hang out with someone like Cat. Yet here we are.

2) Supporting characters-- Nona and the Bots work, Goomer and Dice don't. Goomer is so dense that he's more awkward than funny. And Dice is just Danny Partridge 40 years later, except Danny Partridge was actually funny. Dice is a lot more annoying than funny.

3) scripts-- most of you know what I'm talking about here. Lame "texting" competition. Baby rock climbing??? Mystery rooms? Pink Motorcycles? Babysitting dolls? Dan Schneider must really have writer's block to allow much of this season to be filmed.

Other thoughts....

Even though the ratings evidently are decent, I chalk a lot of that up to the fanatical, crazed fanbase of Ariana and to a lesser extent Jeannette. And I have a feeling that the suits at Nick know the show stinks, which is why we've seen some strange things already. I mean, they already brought the British brats back quickly after their first appearance, I bet because that's one of the few episodes that worked. Also, stunt casting. We've already had Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams and Scott Baio, and the litany of Nick stars, including Liz Gillies, Nathan Kress, Matt Bennett, Abby Wilde, Mikey Reid and coming soon, Noah Munck, Danielle Morrow and Reed Alexander. Why not just call the show iVictorious?

What does this tell us? The show is so bad that they had to go back to things that did work. It's no surprise that the ep with Liz, Nathan and Matt was one of the better ones. Too bad that ep had a stupid plot with an homage to Happy Days with Schneider's version of Jumping the Shark. Dan does these homage things occasionally, The Breakfast Club worked on Victorious, the I Love Lucy one on Drake and Josh was only ok. But it shows desperation as far as the show goes. And finally, a blooper reel after 27 episodes? And it was so bad they had a Sinjin cameo and Drake and Josh bloopers??? Only a struggling show does these things.

I know it's only a TV show, and I should get over myself. But I had such high hopes for another excellent show out of Schneider, and what we've been getting is insulting garbage TV. It's as they just thought, put Ariana and Jeannette into any show and it will work....uh not so much.

the show is a complete and total hot mess; it does have a few funny bits though - i like Goomer, and Cat is sometimes so strange it cracks me up - but the writing is terrible.

...to think that they replaced Victorious! and How To Rock with this (and their other crappy new shows which are at least as bad), it just doesn't make any sense.

Out of sake of fun, what I would of loved in an iCarly/Victorious Spin-off, and what would be the most likely scenario for the two shows to merge, would be having them meet together at college.

3 characters from iCarly, 3 from Victorious. Sam, Freddy, Gibby with Cat, Jade, and Robbie. Think of all they could mine from that ensemble, and how much more mileage they could get from each character's pre-existing histories, all with the interaction of new people to help further explore each character.

Gibby and Freddy could be room mates, Cat and Sam could be room mates, and in an odd turn of events (this is a sitcom, afterall) Jade somehow finds herself paired up with Robbie. Imagine Robbie's reaction to not only the vast difference between him and Jade, but this would be the first time he was ever this close to any female. Tons and tons of comedy there.

Robbie would help bring a perfect balance to Freddy and Gibby. Freddy being the nerd, but without being an oddball, Gibby being an oddball, but without being much of a nerd, and Robbie being the both of those qualities.

Jade, Sam, Cat would also be a wonderful trio. The ever adorable and innocent Cat with the ever cruel Jade and Sam.

And to make this all the more a super show, maybe Dan could bring back a couple of actors/actresses from past shows. Kel Mitchel often showing up as one of their College Professors has potential.

Anyways, for the show we have ended up with, at least we get more of the Sam and Cat characters, even if they have changed a little.

At first, I thought this show was going to be spectacular by having two characters from two different shows coming together as one. But as the show went on, it became more and more apparent that this was, in my opinion, one of Dan's worst shows I've seen.

One of the problems of this show is it's handling of the stories...or maybe lack thereof. Sam & Cat seem to do this whole thing backwards: it's not the gags and jokes that drive the story, it's the story that drives the jokes and gags. It's so apparent in many of the later episodes because it feels that the jokes are going in different directions, and I have a hard time following along to the episode because of it.

If there's one word I can describe Sam & Cat, that word is desperation. It's showing more and more that this show is getting more and more desperate for your attention, and that is actually driving me away rather than keep me watching. Seriously, this is the only show that has bad babysitters, a restaurant run by robots, MMA fights, fireworks, turkeys fired from a canon, a big government-syle building that has the responsibility to add words to the dictionary, a made up holiday, a blooper episode, ninja kids breaking smartphones, and numerous cameo appearances. Other shows, including Dan Shnieder's other works, do a better job by doing the craziest stuff in moderation, but this show is just showing the unbelievable stuff all at once.

I would have also mentioned the bad transformation of Cat, but I think I've said it enough times on this board already. If you want to know more about it, here's a link to one of them that sums it up nicely. Thank you.

They need to merge Victorious with iCarly, Freddy and Cat's boyfriend made for a decent episode and this latest with Nora was not too bad.

Dan Schneider apparently forced Ariana Grande to do that high pitched baby voice as Cat (dating back to the second season of Victorious):

Supposedly, Schneider had some weird bimbo fetish going on with her and he would yell at her if she didn't do the voice as high pitched as he wanted.
