Fox Renews "Brooklyn Nine-Nine"
by Matt Webb Mitovich
3/7/14

Fox has granted early pick-ups to three of its comedies — "New Girl", "The Mindy Project" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" — as well as its Kevin Bacon-fronted thriller "The Following".

"New Girl" will return for a fourth season, "Mindy" and "The Following" were each picked up for a third cycle and the Golden Globe-winning "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will be back for a sophomore run.

Additional Fox pickups will be announced at a later date.

Glad about Brooklyn 99! There were predictions that The Mindy Project, would be cancelled.

"This just seemed like a good way to throw a wrench into the precinct dynamics for a while -- how much of his assignment we will or won't work into S2 remains to be seen,” says Michael Schur. PLUS: That’s how to do a sitcom season finale (http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/season-finale-review-brooklyn-nine-nine-charges-and-specs-eyes-closed-head-first-cant-lose), the finale proved how great it’s become (http://www.vanityfair.com/vf-hollywood/brooklyn-nine-nine-finale) and it set up Season 2 for a strong start (http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/brooklyn-nine-nine-charges-and-specs-202609).

This show deserves to move to a new night because it is becoming TOO INDEPENDENT from both New Girl and The Mindy Project.
