I'm a big fan of the horror movies of the 1970's and early 1980's. In my opinion the best horror movies of all time came out during that period. My favorites are:
1. The Shining (1980)
2. The Omen (1976)
3. Dressed to Kill (1980)
4. Halloween (1978)
5. The Exorcist (1973)
6. Friday the 13th (1980)
7. Psycho (1960)
8. Carrie (1976)
9. Rosemary's Baby (1968)
10. The Amityville Horror (1979)
11. Don't Look Now (1973)
However, there is one horror movie that I haven't seen from that period that, frankly I'm a bit hesitant to see.
That movie is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). For some reason I just can't get past the title, even though I heard that much of the violence is implied, which may be even worse then actually seeing it. For those of you who have seen it, what do you think of it. Is it worth watching? Is it as bad as those late 80's and early 90's gore movies? Knowing the horror movies that I like, do you think it would find a place in my top 10 horror movies?
