"How I Met Your Dad" Pilot Adds "Smash" Alum

"Smash" alumna Krysta Rodriguez is the latest addition to the cast of CBS’ "How I Met Your Mother" offshoot pilot, "How I Met Your Dad".

Rodriguez will play Juliet, a sexy, flamboyant, energetic, party-girl who runs a successful fashion blog and is delighted to learn her BFF Sally is ending things with the terminally boring Gavin.



HIMYD is described as a “kindred spirit” of HIMYM — only this time telling the story of a relationship from the point of view of Sally (Greta Gerwig), a “female Peter Pan” who is thinking of calling it quits with her husband of a year, Gavin.

Still to be cast are Sally’s Type A brother Danny, Juliet’s “hot nerd” colleague Frank, and the Narrator aka grown-up Sally.

CBS’ "How I Met Your Mother" spin-off "How I Met Your Dad" has made a key (and 11th hour) casting tweak.

"Smash" actress Krysta Rodriguez has exited the pilot just days ahead of production, TVLine confirms.

According to Deadline, which broke the news, Rodriguez — who was set to play the best friend of Greta Gerwig’s character — was let go following the table read. The character (originally described as a sexy, flamboyant fashion blogger) is now being reconceived.

One day after a big casting change, "How I Met Your Dad" has already found a new best friend. Tiya Sircar has been cast as Juliet in CBS’ "How I Met Your Mother" spin-off’s pilot, TVLine has learned.

Sircar’s part, the sexy and flamboyant bestie of Sally (played by Greta Gerwig), also is the role from which "Smash" alum Krysta Rodriguez was let go after the table read.
