I admit to being a "girl watcher" and still think the female fashions of the mid-to-late 1960's were the best. Along that line, I always thought the outfits that Kathy Garver wore in the role as "Cissy" are a great example of what was popular at that time. What I don't remember ever seeing, however, is her ever wearing fashion boots. That was the time when both the short white "go-go boots" were popular and then shortly afterward, the knee-high vinyl boots. Did anyone ever notice her wearing boots on the show?

Totally agree 100%, In the 4th and especially 5th last season of "Family Affair" the higher the already adorable Kathy Garver's skirts went up, the sexier she became, yet still played the part with grace and dignity. I think if she had worn "go-go boots" on the show, it would have made her appear too sexy and out of character. She wore very stylish clothes including hair styles and assessories of the day, was from park avenue, yet still was raised with class.

Don Fedderson (producer/creator) had a very unquie way of using his beautiful talented ladies (Tina Cole, My Three Sons as well) and dressing them sexy enough in later seasons to keep the young male curious and interested and yet keep the actresses as fashion role models for the younger female viewer as well.

Thank you for your comments. It's interesting that you mention Tina Cole. Even though she appeared with her cousins on TV in musical numbers where all were wearing boots, etc. it was only after she had the triplets on "My Three Sons" that she was seen that way on that show. Even then, it came in a small way in an episode where "Katie" took a job singing in a small club. I've never actually thought of women in boots as necesarily sexy, but rather that they had taken a few extra minutes to put on and wear an accessory that basically accentuated both her and all she was wearing.

Very true and you have a good memory or like myself still watch the reruns, There was a earlier pre-triplets episode though where Katie needs money to buy an anniversary gift for Rob and takes a job as a cigarette girl in a cafe....GEEZ....Fedderson had her baring severe clevage and in a beyond short mini-skirt and black stockings...woke me up as a youth! lol....

Yeah, of course Kathy was never asked to wear anything remotely as revealing as Tina's outfit from that M3S episode (schwiiiiiiiiiing!). Even Uncle Bill's many gorgeous girlfriends generally were not seen wearing anything risque -- evening gowns in many cases.

I, too, am a gril watcher..I think that Cissy soon became known as one of the most mature girls ever on TV..in terms of temperant and dress...love her!
