Later seasons when they were in college I don't understand the decoration of their bedroom. It's so subdued vs earlier seasons. It looked more like a guest bedroom than a family bedroom  it lacked their personalities. It's kind of charming they shared a room well into their late teens early 20's on the show.

Also randomly noticed that they switched beds....Ricky now slept by the window and Dave by the door instead of the other way around.

My guess is that the main reason the characters shared the same bedroom until David's onscreen marriage was for them to be able to talk about things without parental input [and it's interesting that the characters DID seem far more relaxed with each other than with either of their parents- despite Ozzie's character being very laid back].
I understand that their set was modeled after the Nelson's actual home from the late 1940's but I wonder if the show was the only place where the sons actually shared a bedroom since the Nelsons were hardly pinching pennies at that point.

It is my understanding that the boys shared a room on the show simply for the convenience of shooting the scenes, it was easier if they shared a room. In the Nelson's actual house David and Rick each had their own rooms.

Thank y'all for the input on the boys room I just noticed the curious decorations on the walls instead of banners.
