DWTS Drops Cohost Brooke Burke-Charvet

The music has stopped for "Dancing With the Stars" cohost Brooke Burke-Charvet.

As reported by E! Online, Burke-Charvet got word on Friday afternoon that her services would not be needed for Season 18 of the ABC competition series, which premieres March 17.



In a statement to E! Online, Burke-Charvet said, “I understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture” — a seeming nod to DWTS‘ declining ratings and buzz.

“I’ve seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom,” she added, “but this one takes the cake.”



Later this evening, she also addressed the news on Twitter:

“weird day….Shocking pre-season elimination #DWTS…ME. @Tom_Bergeron didn't even read my name. I won't be returning to the show this season.”





A former model, Brooke Burke-Charvet first appeared on DWTS as a contestant — and eventual winner — of Season 7, and then went on to co-host with Tom Bergeron from Seasons 10 through 17.

In that capacity, she succeeded Samantha Harris (who replaced Lisa Canning starting with Season 2).

"Dancing With the Stars" has already found a replacement for Brooke Burke-Charvet.

Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews will take over co-hosting duties on the reality dance competition alongside Tom Bergeron, People reports. Andrews previously appeared on the show as a contestant, dancing with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy in Season 10.



On Friday, Brooke Burke-Charvet announced that she had been unceremoniously fired from the show. Andrews has yet to comment publicly on her hiring.

Last month, ABC also fired DWTS bandleader Harold Wheeler and his entire band.



"Dancing With the Stars" kicks off Season 18 on Monday, March 17 at 8/7c on ABC.

I don't watch the show that much but all watching will cease and desist after reading this.

This show seriously needs to be cancelled. It's been on its last leg (pun intended) for the last 5 or so years. The thrill has worn off.

And the budget slashing and axe wielding continues on DwtS, huh?

Seems kind of odd that someone from FOX Sports 1 is hosting an ABC show?

I'm a fan but the last few seasons haven't been as great as previous ones. I have thought the last few seasons were rigged and had too many non stars on, and I fear this season will continue the downfall. I don't want to see people who's only claim to fame is on a cheesy reality show or someone famous for stupid reasons (like Octomom). I want to see people on tv shows from 30 years ago, current sports stars, etc. If the rumors are true about the contestants I'm really not impressed.

I know right? if that's their way of thinking why not replace Tom Bergeron with a younger hot stud muffin to attract more female viewers.

I don't think ABC will ever get the viewers they want with this show. This is not a program that younger people flock to.

Mistake! Mistake! Mistake! There was no need to replace Brooke, IMO. Taking away the orchestra? There are just some traditional things that one should not mess with.

Brooke's voice was better than Erin's, IMO.

Everyone preferred Brooke rather Erin because Brooke's voice is nicer and Erin's voice is uncomfortable, no offense.

sorry, but Erin Andrews just comes across as an obnoxious bitch; she's not friendly or someone that you would want to watch intentionally, and she's certainly not better-looking than Brooke Burke.

also, didn't Brooke just go through a battle with cancer or lymphoma or something? it seems a pretty heartless to just dump her right after a personal struggle like that.

This. I dont think EA is ugly, I think she's pretty, but I never understood all the people who thought she was the sexiest thing on Earth.

She's got an attitude. I don't like it.

Also, her face when Noah made the proposal was an eye roll. She said on twitter that it wasnt but it sure looks like it was.

I noticed too that her reaction was weird. Sort of a look of annoyance.

Again, I never understood why EA was pushed as the sexiest woman on earth. Is she pretty? Yes. But not the be all, end all. I can name 3 woman in the sports profession that are better looking in my book.
