Natalie Lane was a trendy housewife. I loved how her look changed in this season. The hair, the clothes. This woman dressed like she had business to take care of and had a life. Her first two years, she was pretty but it looked more like the conservative, traditional house wife. The flipped hair and the skirts and blouses and dresses, this woman was very chic. She had it going on. :D

She looked 10 years younger with the new 'do & clothing style.
I think she even experimented with false eyelashes like Patty Duke's characters.

Re-watching season 3 and I'm wondering if she wore a wig especially the first 5 or so episodes when the "hair" was longer.

I was watching the recent Decades marathon of "Dobie Gillis" (where she played a professor), and in a couple of episodes they show Jean Byron wearing short shorts and a swimsuit. She looks absolutely stunning. It makes sense Natalie Lane had to be a much more reserved character, but you do wonder if Season 3 of PDS was her attempt to change her image.

By 1965, The Patty Duke Show was probably looking pretty out of style, so I think that Patty, Cathy and Natalie's looks were updated to try to make the show seem a bit more contemporary, as was the re-recorded theme song. But then they go and get Frankie Avalon as their guest star in the season premere? Not so up-to-date, but likely because he was under contract to United Artists. Okay, that went a bit off topic...

Check out Jean in this episode of "State Trooper" from 1956. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btUH8NLd0J8) Starting at 6:54, Jean's lying around the pool and all I can say is "Wow!"

I'm amazed how LONG the dress's were throughout the show - for the most part ...
