This has to be one of the best episodes of the series. Ilka Chase, a great actress from Classic Hollywood, was wonderful as Aunt Pauline. She portrayed her role so well, you couldn't help but dislike her. This was a great acting bit for Patty as Cathy, as well. And it also gave some airtime to ol' Tiger, too! This is one of the episodes I remember well from watching reruns in the 70s.

This is an episode that loses a lot in the present edited television broadcasts. Again this is a great outing for Patty as Cathy. There are some moving scenes and dialogue and a funny scene with animals that is left out.
This is such a sweet episode and Patty is great as both Patty and Cathy. I am always amused by Christmas episodes from this period when they show the family around the tree decorating. Christmas trees from this time were so scraggly looking compared to today's engineered farm grown trees. If you like to look for the celluloid cut in the filming there is a very clear one in this episode when the girls are sitting on the steps talking. And the Merry Christmas tag from Patty at the end is fun. Makes you feel you are watching it as a first run episode.

On my DVD this episode is very poorly transferred. There is much "dithering" (that really is a technical term) on the edges of the images. Anyone else notice this? This is also one of the few episodes where Martin and Natalie actually have a romantic kiss on the mouth when they are wishing each other a happy new year. I love the way Cathy looks in her beret. So different from when Patty wears that ridiculous beanie type cap.
