So you telling me there is not a show liked by all races? Sanford and Son is liked by white people and black people
Not the case for the Jeffersons
Ant-Lox 02-18-2014, 09:01 PM All races is pretty broad.
I don't like Sanford and Son that much, and I'm black. I never really liked the Esther character, she scared me as a kid.
I liked the Jeffersons for a while, but I wouldn't buy it on DVD or anything.
I think the idea is good, but I could never wrap my mind around why they needed a maid for such a small apartment.

Seriously. Two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. And they needed a maid?! Even the Cosbys, with their huge, three-story townhouse and five kids, never needed a maid!

I was thinking of people in general and I'm sure The Jeffersons is liked by whites as well. I know my grandparents watched it every week because I was living with them and I recall watching the first episode of Checking In but don't remember much about it.

More whites like Sanford and son and Good times which is why the show is not complete on DVD

those shows also have fewer seasons, and apparently most tv show releases on DVD tend to have declining sales for each season released.
I like the Jeffersons a lot, can handle Sanford and Son in small doses and am really ambivalent about Good Times.

Good Times is doing so well on DVD that it has been re-released by another company

I'm white and I liked the Jerffersons for a while and then it got boaring after being on for so long. I like Cosby(still watch it in re runs) What' s Happening, Good Times, The Flip Wilson Show, That's my Mama, I liked a different World and Rock until they got too controversial.

Good Times didn't get boring?
visaman666 03-03-2014, 02:35 AM The Jeffersons ran for far to long. Way past the point of relevancy. The Jeffersons lost "The Eye Of The Tiger", that is they forgot what it was like to be poor, and that spoiled them. So people could not relate to them anymore.
IllinoisTVFan 03-03-2014, 03:38 AM I bought all of the Jeffersons DVD's for my mom and she is white. I've known white people who liked shows with black casts (and to be fair Jeffersons was mixed, not purely blacks).
OH Nuts! 03-03-2014, 09:54 AM seee you part of the problem, like the Jeffersons but won't buy it on DVD
Don't quite follow what you're getting at Sol. Why is not buying a show you like "part of the problem" ? What "problem". Just curious what you're getting at.
I really like the Jeffersons, but have stopped buying PRACTICALLY all shows because ones I like usually turn up free someplace on You Tube or Antenna. Actually, I did by two seasons of The Jeffersons, but if I had it to do over, with what I know now, I wouldn't have. Why? Because what I bought I could have seen most of for free now. But I don't regret it because who knew seven years ago how much would become free from the sources I mentioned above.
As for why someone wouldn't like The Jeffersons, could be a lot of reasons: not liking NYC, George, Florence, the story line etc. Everyone has their own tastes. But as for me I really like the show. The only thing I really didn't like was the changing of the Lionels. I REALLY LIKED Mike Evans and when he was replaced the show JTS for me. Still enjoyable but not as much as before.

You can see it for free?? It chopped up by TV One
tlc38tlc38 03-03-2014, 09:39 PM Personally, I don't like relying on TV channels or YouTube to watch my favorite shows. If they're available, I like to support the cause and buy them so we get the complete series released. Owning the DVDs is also nice because you don't have to worry about commercials (which I HATE) and you can watch them anytime you want.
I still have hope that we'll see the remaining seasons of "The Jeffersons" released someday.
I am recording "Murphy Brown" and "227" from Encore because they are commercial-free and they seem to be unedited. I'll also start recording "Diff'rent Strokes" when season 5 starts.

Well I have NO REGRETS about buying the entire I Love Lucy and Sex And The City series. ButI wished I had held off on buying all of Patty Duke and what I did buy of many other series.
But I get your point too. Even though many episodes of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet are on You Tube, I'm glad I bought many of the DVD sets of the show, esp. the Shout sets. Since the Shout! Sets were done with Sam and David Nelson's participation, at least the Nelson family got some $ from it.

OK - I don't get a lot of TV channels - so if the eps are chopped up, snowy, over cut, etc.,
then yes - buying a good set of the show is better. But maybe it'll show up on Antenna. Man Mike Evans was a great as Lionel! He did for Lionel what Dick York did for Darrin.
Also The J's is a popular 70s show; surprised it's not on a lot of retro channels.
