Dan Harmon’s "Rick and Morty" Gets Second Season On Adult Swim
by THE DEADLINE TEAM
February 12, 2014

With the future of his NBC comedy still in doubt, Dan Harmon is guaranteed to have at least one show on next season. Adult Swim has picked up the "Community" creator’s "Rick and Morty" for Season 2.

The animated half-hour, created and exec produced by Harmon and Justin Roiland, centers on a sociopathic scientist who drags his dim grandson on adventures across the universe. Roiland voices both roles.

"Rick and Morty", one of Adult Swim’s first original primetime shows, airs at 10:30 PM Mondays.

“I’m relieved to be in a time slot of no strategic value to CBS,” Harmon said in a statement.

Wubba lubba dub-dub! Yes, it was announced today that Adult Swim has renewed sci-fi sitcom "Rick and Morty" for a third season.

“It’s an honor to see Rick and Morty join the exclusive club of shows with over nineteen episodes,” said co-creator and executive producer Dan Harmon in a statement. “It’s time to demand that the network allow us to draw the characters going to Hawaii.”

“I am blown away by the seemingly instant success of Rick and Morty. I look forward to continuing their adventures!” said Harmon’s fellow creator and executive producer Justin Roiland, who voices the two lead characters and first came up with the idea for the show almost a decade ago.

The season 2 premiere, which was broadcast July 26, ranked No. 1 in its time period among all key adults and men.

New episodes air Sundays at 11:30 p.m. ET.
