I understand that a lot of people for some reason hate CBS shows even though they seem to be the most popular according to the ratings. I'll admit, I didn't watch CBS for years, mostly because, before DTV, the signal was awful so I steered away from it. Once I heard good things about all their shows, and noticed some of their shows started gearing more towards the 18 - 34 demographic, I started to give some of them a shot.

I can understand the hate for shows like 2 1/2 Men, and can't name almost any sitcom that isn't How I met your mother. But I have to say, I really like the Big Bang Theory. I watched one episode and hated it, because like others, I found the jokes sometimes pandering to nerd humor. I found Leonard's voice grating and a bit insulting considering everyone know's his real voice if they've watch Roseanne. Sounded like a Saved by the bell nerd impersonation. Sheldon was unbearable the first season. Wolowitz was just horrible. I decided to give it another go when I got netflix and got hooked. The characters are simple but have good chemistry with each other and get nicer over time. Kaley Cuoco is the nice normal foil and not a super bimbo who looks down on them over time you end up kind of feeling sorry for her the most even though she's the prettiest and most normal. The gradual adding of more characters kept the show fresh. I actually think the adding of love interests actually made the show more interesting.

I've also noticed, after buying and watching a lot of shows on dvd and netflix binging, there's something I like about a show that's simple enough that you can watch at any point. Before I liked the more "serious" and "intelligent" shows because of their lineal story telling. But I realize now that, man, I can't watch the reruns because it just jumps in the middle of the story. Big Bang theory, has a I love lucy, Everyone loves raymond quality to it (for me) where I can watch random reruns on tv over and over and still enjoy them.

On another CBS note. I totally understand why everyone hates 2 Broke Girls. I still like it though. The two girls are very likable, and the concept of two strangers becoming friends and going through insane hardship, and not being "TV poor in New York" is interesting to me. Though I can't stand the side characters. Han, I can accept (even if I'm asian, and his Korean, korean accent, and that horrible episode with his mother is Total crap), but man Jennifer Coolidge is annoying as Hell. I'm glad they seem to be changing the premise of the show every couple of episodes. First it's "Let's save money to start a business" then it's "hey we opened a business" then "we failed" then "let's start again in the Diner" and then "let's go to school and meet a whole new cast of side characters".

I like the shows I like and I don't really care if others like or dislike them- that's fine. Everyone's welcome to their own opinion. I don't always get the hate for some shows-but I recognize that everyone has their own tastes and that's okay.:)
