View Full Version : Psych is ending after 8 seasons, series finale will air March 26 icecream 02-05-2014, 05:02 PM http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/02/05/psych-canceled-by-usa-after-8-seasons-series-finale-to-air-march-26/234908/ robyrob 02-05-2014, 05:59 PM man that sucks - I am really hating all these new copy-cat cookie-cutter shows USA is trying to replace their once great schedule with. MacLeaper 03-27-2014, 02:30 PM I saw the "Psych" series finale episode last night and the hilarious after show event. What a great series! It did an awesome job wrapping up the show. I'm sad to see it go though because it's one of the few current shows that I actually like to watch- but it's great that it had such a good long run. Maybe James Roday and Dule Hill and the rest can get back together for a reunion movie sometime. In the meantime, I'll be content with watching all the episodes on DVD that I never actually caught during the show's run. It's such a great, fun series- awesome theme song, hilarious banter between Shawn and Gus and the other characters, tons of cool 1980s references and other time periods, movies, TV shows, trends, etc. and some really great detective work as well. I'm a big fan of mysteries in general and I also enjoy good, clean comedies, so a comedic mystery show is a nice mix for me. I also love the friendship between Shawn and Gus- for me, this friendship is like the other great classic friendships on TV that I love- Cory and Shawn on "Boy Meets World", Charles and Buddy on "Charles in Charge", MacGyver and Pete on "MacGyver", Sam and Al on "Quantum Leap", Gary and Chuck on "Early Edition", Ralph and Bill on "The Greatest American Hero", Frank and Joe Hardy and Nancy Drew on "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" (okay, so Frank and Joe are brothers, but they're still obviously great friends too) and so many others... "Psych" is such a great show- I love it.:) TMC 03-27-2014, 04:14 PM http://t.co/FaZN7W4kY4 The USA series, which exits tonight, was very important in proving that basic cable could offer quality dramas. Sure, “Monk” and “The Shield” came before. But “Psych,” debuting in July 2006, was part of "a subsequent generation of series to prove that it could do so regularly and that an audience would be there to watch,” says Neil Genzlinger, who adds: “‘Psych' was a bridge show that helped get us to the basic cable of today, though, paradoxically, today’s landscape might be less forgiving."
