24 was trailblazing in it's pacing/style and led the way to dozens of other shows (and in a way is the one that has started the trend of cable series for short runs (13 episodes a year) with one story line.

Question will be whether fans come back to the show, especially all the viewers that have left network tv for the cable channels (or Netflix).

Also the shows best years were during the Bush years when using torture was bought into the living room as actual almost propaganda entertainment it seems for what was to come in real life.

The kids are not in the same mind frame these days, and with a continuous show, the viewers are going to be the most in the first hour, so it remains to be seen if this isn't dated and trends very old.

It will be interesting to see the demographics when the ratings come out.
