"Big Bang Theory" Exclusive: Bob Newhart Set to Make Third Appearance as Professor Proton

Bob Newhart and "The Big Bang Theory" can’t get enough of each other.

The veteran actor is set to reprise his Emmy-winning role as Sheldon and Leonard’s childhood idol Professor Proton later this season, TVLine has learned exclusively.



This will mark Newhart’s third "Big Bang" appearance, following his inaugural stint last season and his encore this past November.

There’s no word what brings the professor (aka Arthur Jeffries, Ph.D.) back into the fold.

Cool! Bob Newhart is a comedy legend and this is one of the funniest sitcoms (in my opinion) on TV today.:) :cool:

Good to have him back, just give him a good script and watch him go.

He was great in both episodes. I'd love to him back in a third!

I heard that the third episode the "Professor Proton" character appears in is going to deal with him passing away or something.
