I was watching an episode from the first series (season) and Hyacinth ordered "6 fresh cream cakes" from a local bakery. I wondered what cream cakes were? I assume it's a British dessert? what (cream) is in them?

No expert here , and I doubt these are typical, but I'm sure they would please Hyacinth!

I had the same curiosity about "custard tarts", the favorite snack of Lionel Hardcastle on ATGB. Believe it or not, I actually found some, altho flavored and small, at Walmart! Nothing more than pie crust with a scoop of custard on top, but they sure left you craving for another!
