Much like how the 80s still lingered on until around mid-1992, 2000-2002 was still kinda 90s-ish. The culture is a little bit slower than the calendar.

Was the 2004 Super Bowl incident the key moment when the last leftover pieces of the 90s were completely gone and allowed the 2000s to have its own identity? Thinking back now, it feels like it to me.

Much like Nirvana's SLTS was the main thing that destroyed the 80s leftovers, and not simply New Year's Day 1990.

If not, what was the main 90s killer from a cultural standpoint (not political)?
