Jerry Seinfeld Confirms "Seinfeld" Reunion... of Sorts
January 30, 2014
by Daniel Goldblatt - Managing Editor, Variety.com

Jerry Seinfeld’s “secret project” — the one he alluded to during a Reddit AMA earlier this month — is in fact a reunion of "Seinfeld", the comedian said today.

Appearing on the “Boomer & Carton” radio show on WFAN on Thursday morning, Seinfeld answered a barrage of questions centered around a photo taken on Jan. 13 of Seinfeld with Jason Alexander, walking into the diner that served as a backdrop for many an episode.

Seinfeld said the project was not a commercial or an episode of his hit Web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” and while he would not give away much in the way of details, he did say that Alexander was playing his George Costanza character and that other "Seinfeld" characters were involved.

He described the project as “short-ish form,” a “one-and-done” thing involving Larry David in some way that will be made available “very, very soon.”

This is not, however, the first time the "Seinfeld" gang has reunited since the show completed its run.

Seinfeld, Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards last appeared together on David’s "Curb Your Enthusiasm" for an episode back in 2009.

"Seinfeld's" Jerry and George reunited for one of the Super Bowl's best commercials — and there's more where that came from.

In the 90-second spot, Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) meets up with George (Jason Alexander) for coffee at their favorite haunt, Tom's Restaurant. The two waste no time before they start bickering about nothing, and even Newman (Wayne Knight) stops by. The scene, however, is just a segment from Seinfeld's Crackle web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

In a statement to The New York Times, Seinfeld explained how the reunion happened:

"Fox approached Larry [David] and me about doing some kind of Seinfeld reunion for the halftime broadcast because of the New York connection. So we thought throwing Jerry, George and Newman into a Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee was a fun way to do it. Larry and I wrote the script in one sitting, just like old times, and working with him, Jason and Wayne was a total blast, as it always was."

Seinfeld also notes that the clip wasn't a commercial since neither he nor Sony, Crackle's owner, paid for the presence during the game.

I'm not really a Seinfeld fan as such, but I have seen some of the show before- it can be funny at times, in my opinion. Anyway, this reunion clip that aired during the SuperBowl was great!:)

Not bad... but it seems a great time for a feature length Seinfeld movie... something like The Wrath of Khan was to Star trek, for example.

Not that I would ever expect that to happen, of course.

:D
