I cannot believe how long it takes the new UM to get back on. First it was rumored around 2009 or so, then a year later, etc. I have given up on all hope. While I do not think UM will ever come back it is ok to dream right? Also, UM was meant to be on tv from 1988 - 1996, its golden years. It lasted until 2002 and had some good episodes in the last two years, but the heart of UM was from 1988 - 1994.
If it comes back what new stories like murder, kidnapping, missing, ghosts, and ufos could be inserted? have you heard of any bizarre stuff that has happened since 2003? In 2004 Al Kite was murdered by a fake "potential room for rent tenant" in Aurora, Colorado = the same city as the future movie massacre. The man used the same steps that Mike Emert's killer did:
1. fake accent to throw authorities off
2. fake limp, used a cane
3. filled sink full of murder weapons to wash fingerprints off
4. dressed nicely
5. attacked their victim from behind
6. both pretended to be interested in property/housing
7. both stole money or jewelry, but police said robbery was not the motive.
I saw this on AMW (is on someone's facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1642089451824)
and Amazon.com and is very creepy. UM needs to be on the air for stuff like this to get recognized again.
Also Dateline did an extra creepy slaying when they talked about a young real estate lady who got murdered by a couple (man and woman) pretending to be out of state visitors. They spoke with a fake Mexican accent and supposedly just moved to western Canada looking for a 1 million dollar mansion/house. They never arrested anyone in this show. What makes it creepy is that a woman was also involved - usually its just a man who kills another woman. here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhR6Tmmx4vg
Seems like nowadays we want immediate closure on the scary murder segments and many shows like Forensic Files and Cold Case Files or the New Detectives provides a show with an ending of an arrest. While UM caught many suspects, much more were never arrested and made the show even more scary, especially at night time as kids when our parents were out shopping or working.
