I didn't really like the Michael character all that much, but Michael did have a good point when he blew up at James's funeral guests who was gushing about how much he grew(or something like that.) he said something along the lines of, "My daddy just died, and you're chatting about how much I've grown! Get away from me with that nonsense!" While the guests looked horrified and confused... Michael was right. Chatting about how much he grew was stupid, considering he just lost the most important man in his life. A "I'm sorry your Dad dies would have been much more appropriate than chatting about how much he grew.

I agree and see his point. I felt the same way when my Dad passed away when I was 17. I thought how can people be acting as if it were a regular gathering.

Because when people die you celebrate their LIFE.

You talk about all the things they said to make you laugh or smile. That's the right way to deal with the loss of a family member

I agree. Michael was too young to realize that James' family and friends were there to celebrate his life rather than drown in sorrow. It was Michael who was behaving inappropriately. But like you said, he was too young to realize that.

Excellent. I do agree about celebrating life. I think that will be the challenge for some of us to get out of our routine and do more for others.

Michael made a good point, but he was in grief himself, so he could only see it from his perspective, BTW, if James had survived, he might have been traumatized by Michael's "curious" ways.

Michael was stupid because they had already been to the funeral so once you get home that's when people start celebrating the life of the person who died

I haven't seen the episode in a while, but here you are having people talk about your deceased father and they tell you, you have grown. Grown how.? Am I more mature?. Am I handling this situation well? . Or do they mean I have grown in inches.

The guys from the carwash who said Michael had grown was talking about height since they probably had not seen him since he was a kid

There is nothing wrong with them remarking on how much he had grown. He could have just said "Thank you" and politely excused himself from the conversation and went into Thelma's room if he didn't want to deal with them.
