Sad news is hitting the web as it is being reported that Riz Ortolani, composer of Cannibal Holocaust, has passed in Rome. He was 87. Ortolani also composed The House On The Edge Of The Park, Castle of Blood, and his music was featured in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill films.

R.I.P. Maestro Ortolani. Your music will be cherished.

Riz's score for Cannibal Holocaust is one of my favorite films scores, listening to it outside the film you wouldn't think that it belongs to a film like CH, yet that's part of what makes it so effective.

Say, where exactly in the Kill Bill movies can I hear his music? I might wanna keep that in mind the next time I watch them.

It's been awhile since I've seen them, but Quentin uses pieces of Riz's score from the 1967 spaghetti western Day Of Anger (It's also used in Tarantino's Django Unchained).
