View Full Version : Walking Down Memory Lane
boechsner 01-23-2014, 11:34 PM Tonight I was walking down memory lane on this board and looked back at all the thread titles and it brought back a lot of fond memories.
Some conclusions:
1. Lifetime really treated the series so well! Airing it from 1992-2006 and then 2007 on Lifetime Real Women. Despite the episodes being edited, it was so nice to see the Robert Stack segments that aired as far back as Special 4.
2. This message board really grew in the early 2000s. It feels like things have slowed down with the series not airing like it used to. We need ways to keep this series alive and have new viewers discover it's greatness.
3. We really worked together and became UM experts! We really had nothing but a few vague descriptions of episodes back then. Now we have very detailed episode guides available to reference. What's exciting is that I believe there are things to still discover about the series. For example, exactly what segments aired on the Jan 5, 1994 episode? We may never know!
4. Many of you can not stand the iconic UFO/ghost stories. Yet others, can't stand the Lost Loves segments. I feel that the series just wouldn't have been the same if they hadn't done these stories. Resurrection Mary and all ... As the years go by, I've come to really enjoy the Lost Loves segments.
5. TJ and Crystaldawn are awesome! Thank you both for maintaining this board!

Seconded! UM was one of my favorite shows growing up. I'll be 36 in March and remember watching so many of those cases, and now reading other people's observations here.
The age progression pictures always freaked me out and my sister would make fun of me for it!
Mystery Man 01-24-2014, 03:33 PM Yeah, I love this board. I love UM (both versions-sue me!) and haven't been here as long as most, but the discussions on the most fascinating cases are always absurdly long and interesting to read. Kudos to you guys. :)
Spark Of Spirit 01-24-2014, 08:30 PM Yeah, this board is the best when it comes to UM information and discussion. No other place comes close.
MegtheEgg86 01-25-2014, 01:45 AM This is my favorite board, ever. I have had so much fun and enjoyed the people and discussions here so much. :)

I, too, LOVE this site! I love how everyone banters and adds their thoughts and opinions, which sometimes provokes thoughts I never even thought of about certain cases. I love how we all seem to "get it", too....and what I mean by that is there are certain references and inside jokes that I will say to people around me and they look at me like I have five heads, but then I smile to myself and think "the people on the forum would get it". A quick funny story to prove my point: Just last week I was at a casino and there was a guy who was probably late 40s/early 50s, black, about 5'8 or so, he had dreadlocks, and his right hand was in his pocket. I couldn't stop watching him. Eventually I was following him around the casino. My friends thought I was nuts. But what they didn't get was, HELLO, I thought it was Wadada!!!!!! Of course, it wasn't. The guy eventually took his hand out of his pocket and he used it normally, and he didn't have any sort of an accent (yep, I got that close to listen in). My point is, everyone here would have totally understood....but my friends thought I was a crazy person that should have a drink and play a slot machine instead. No way, man! I was too busy, I was gonna get justice for Sarah Beard!!!!!! :)
But yeah, I love this forum. The internet has really helped us follow up and find out info about segments and what ended up happening in some situations, too, and then share it all here!
WishfulDreamer 01-27-2014, 11:56 PM This is my favorite forum of all time. I find myself checking it even when I should be running out the door for work. Unsolved Mysteries last aired new episodes over 11 years ago and I still love the show and love to watch it, discuss cases, and talk about favorite moments from the show. Everyone here shares that desire and lets me know it's not just me! Almost no one would understand UM inside jokes in my social circle. But on here, I can say, ''I like to live in a clean house'' ''Co-in-cee-dence'' or ''I wonder if Wendy's based its salad bar on Jule Caylor's model'' and people totally get it! Honestly, I love seeing so much UM love and updates on cases on here. I love discussing theories and bouncing ideas back and forth. I love it when we get people involved in cases coming on here to talk, despite any creepy moments (Don Dixon's visit, anyone?) Another thing that made me feel sentimental was checking out a reddit thread on unsolved mysteries in general and yet seeing so much Robert Stack love and praise, for both him and the show. Makes me feel good. :)
isotope 01-31-2014, 04:00 AM I loved UM as a kid and it stuck with me in a way that no other show from the late 80s/early 90s did
I was delighted a few years back to find the old segments on the forbidden site, and spent many a profitable hour reliving old memories and finding new, delightfully unsettling mysteries - until, of course, Cosgrove Meurers spoiled it!
Still, I keep coming back to this board and keep finding new and intriguing mysteries - my sincere thanks to everyone who maintains and contributes to this forum
