After 39 years of marriage, Captain and Tennille are calling it quits.

RumorFix has confirmed that Toni Tennille, 73, filed for divorce against husband and singing partner Daryl Dragon, 71, on Jan. 16.

The couple, who are best known for their hits "Muskrat Love" and "Love Will Keep Us Together," married in 1975, which is the same year they released their first album. The couple have continue to record together over the years, and most recently released the album "ICON" in 2013.

I guess "The Captain" is getting a dishonorable discharge! It's actually sad to see that a couple that is responsible for so many love songs is breaking up.

That's so sad, especially after spending that many years together.

Very sad to hear about this...especially from the duo that sang "Love Will Keep Us Together"... one of my favorite Captain & Tennille songs.

Don't really know who they are , but it is a shame after all those years together that they are splitting.

I saw a video on our local news that speculated that the divorce is solely a financial issue because Daryl has a condition similar to Parkinson's and supposedly by divorcing they will be eligible for certain kinds of assistance. It sounds really weird but I find it hard to believe that two people who are so in love are divorcing so suddenly after so many years of marriage. But I guess we'll never know the truth.

Let this be a lesson for each and everyone of us: Love won't keep us together. It can ONLY bring us together - for a while; just for a while, because TIME will surely tear us apart.
