You know, I love cable. Some networks like USA can't really get away with much (PG-rated WWE programming anyone?), but then we get networks like HBO and Showtime... These are the networks that don't have to give a damn about being family-friendly, which tends to mean less executive meddling. Now, executive meddling can be good (If they'd listened to executives Star Trek Insurrection might not have sucked as bad as it did), but generally you get people less interested in telling a good story that shapes an audience and more in shaping a show to fit an existing audience.
