"The Traveling Saleswoman"? She sung a song in that movie "He died with his boots on" which was real funny the way she sang the song. That was the first time I ever saw her act either in the movies or on TV. I was just wondering if anyone else saw that movie and remember her singing that song?

If I recall, I think the movie was called "The First Traveling Saleslady" and was released sometime around 1950, just before she started "I Married Joan."

I think you are correct about the title and I am sure it was around 1950 but was just wondering if you remember the song she sang while driving a horse and wagon. One of my older cousins took me to see the movie and afterwards she would sing "He died with his boots on" when she was teasing about her boyfriend in a kidding kind of way.

I just remember Joan Davis singing the song and laughing as she sang "He died with his boots on". It was not intended to be a mean song, which may be implied by the title, but a funny song.

The First Traveling Saleslady is a 1956 movie starring Ginger Rogers. Joan Davis's film from 1950 is The Traveling Saleswoman.

I think a movie that Joan Davis is quite good in is 1941's "Hold That Ghost" with Abbott and Costello. It features her even doing a comedy bit with Lou Costello. The rest of the cast is pretty good: Richard Carlson, Evelyn Ankers, Mark Lawrence, along with Ted Lewis, the Andrews Sisters and even Shemp Howard.
