Wow. I had no idea that there was so much animosity on the set. Check out @Gary_Burghoff on Twitter; he's bashing Alda right and left.

View Full Version : Burghoff vs. Alda shotzette 01-10-2014, 12:10 AM Wow. I had no idea that there was so much animosity on the set. Check out @Gary_Burghoff on Twitter; he's bashing Alda right and left. icecream 01-10-2014, 12:44 AM Alan Alda was much more important than Gary Burghoff. M*A*S*H wouldn't have survived without Alda but it did fine without Burghoff. Skywalker 01-10-2014, 04:01 PM Great stuff! Now he's attacking Cagney and Lacey. Thanks for sharing! luna70 05-04-2015, 10:41 AM Quotes other places 'Everyone loved Radar, but, hated Burghoff'.. HAVING never acted.. been at jobs where I HAD to be there for over 16 hours..(R.N. hospital, where lives were in jeopardy..).. so, yes, I know long days are STRESSFUL.. but, he was the only one complaining of the LONG days.. (and the show seemed to give him some time off-Radar went to Tokoyo a lot). This show was a 30 min. show, so, what? 20-22 minutes of film, and it was an ensemble show, so, unless the show was centered on him/another actor, how many lines would any ONE actor have? YES, 1 actor might only have a few lines, but, in different scenes.. so, a lot of down time, but, if an actor learned to do something in their down time, OTHER then start fights with the other actors ..one would not lead to burnout? DID G.B. think he could be a leading MAN? Was he JEALOUS of ALDA? The Andy Griffith show.. The actress who portrayed 'Aunt Bee', I read just recently-hated Andy Griffith, and yes, acted like G.B. on the set-stubborn, SET in her ways, etc. complained that she was 'typecast'.. BOOHOO.. Again, to ME, JEALOUSY, jealous of A.G. -that HE was the LEAD, got ALL the attention, etc.. and NOT excepting that she was WHO she was! Having an attitude like theirs.. SPREADS quickly-in HOLLYWOOD, or anywhere. It certainly does not get what YOU WANT-better conditions, or help WHEN you need it..AND while it seems almost EVERYONE looks back at MASH with love, fond memories.. It is too bad G.B. had to make it a war ! Other actors left for other reasons.. NONE of which was 'I was treated badly' Edward216 05-12-2015, 03:50 AM I was just reading some more about this recently, I'd heard stuff about there being problems with Gary Burghoff but I didn't know until recently it was that bad. Apparenly he seemed to think the whole world was against him and the rest of the cast was mean to him or whatever. Just basically really paranoid. You just don't know about people sometimes, he's one of the last actors I'd think was a total jerk. It's kind of sad really. Ed. Yong Fang 06-27-2015, 04:30 AM Gary Burghoff by most all witnesses is somewhat of a jerk, and probably someone you would have to get to know to like him. Dunno, never met the man. I think it is like Gary Coleman, Burghoff is known for one character and he probably gets people all the time noticing him, bugging him about MASH, or very worse, call him Radar. I don't know if I want to be famous and associated with a character. I would think there are rewards, but a lot of burdens too. Like Radar, Burghoff loves critters. king of comedy 06-27-2015, 07:39 AM G.B. I heard did occasional theatre after M.A.S.H. Edward216 07-22-2015, 02:27 AM He was also on an episode of Wonder Woman. He and Linda Carter have been friends for many years. I was surprised to learn that, they just don't seem like they'd be friends with each other to me. It's interesting to find out which celebrities are friends with each other. Ed. Babalu 07-23-2015, 06:25 PM Burghoff had a horrible reputation on MASH. Jackie Cooper directed the early episodes and hated him. I know someone that worked with Burghoff and Bill Christopher on a commercial. He said Christopher was fine but Burghoff was an ***hole. |
