View Full Version : Networks you think will be on the rise in 2014
mets82 01-09-2014, 03:46 PM So what do you guys think about which networks will be on the rise and become popular in 2014? You can choose 1, 2 or 10, you could even choose none if you want.
I think one network on the rise is Cozi TV. I was really harsh on the channel in the past but they have some decent shows on there. Fantasy Island, Wonder Woman, Lassie, The Real McCoys. There are shows people have heard of. I just have a gut feeling that this network will do good things in 2014.
I also think The Hub will continue to grow in 2014. I thought that getting Step by Step was a good move, yet I wonder why some shows are still on? Lois and Clark and Hercules to be exact. If they get one or two more Step by Step type shows, I think they will do great. Maybe Growing Pains, Facts of Life type shows.
I also think ME-TV will continue to grow. I dont think I mentioned this but remember when I would talk about my ME-TV affliate having paid programming. Well, they've eliminated some of that. Now, I can see the shows at 10pm, 11pm up until 12:30am, Mon.-Fri. Also, I could see the Sunday morning lineup with The Brady Bunch now as well. It may not seem like a lot but if the affiliates plan on phasing out paid programming, then they could really compete with Antenna TV.
tlc38tlc38 01-09-2014, 04:16 PM I think The Hub has great potential. I hope they add Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, Perfect Strangers, Blossom, & The Torkelsons in 2014.
...and bring back The Facts of Life!
I also wish TBS, Encore Classic, or ANY other channel would rerun The Drew Carey Show.
brtcmfn 01-09-2014, 05:57 PM Antenna TV and Metv will continue to be strong
Gettv will get some exposure when it launches in Feb
Bio will be changing it's format and name to FYI later this summer- so I am sure programs people were accustomed to seeing on the channel will not longer be part of the format or move to it's other owned channels.
I am really interested in seeing how The Quad TV will start to build awareness and interest with it's launch by early summer.

I don't really care so much about Hercules, but Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman is an awesome show! I'm glad it's still on the air somewhere. It's one of my favorite Superman incarnations.:)

Is that your network? ;)
70s show watcher 01-09-2014, 08:29 PM i agree about the hub i find myself watching that network quite often
TKMetal 01-09-2014, 09:51 PM I think The Hub will want to produce their own "family" programming for the prime time hours at some point.
Regulus 01-09-2014, 09:53 PM Is that your network? ;)
Yes it is my network. :) A little over seven years ago I grew tired of what the various networks, :angryfire SO I CREATED MY OWN NETWORK! :D   :rotflmao: :brent
tvfreak1987 01-10-2014, 03:36 AM Agreed on Me-TV, Antenna TV (which FINALLY came to my area last month!!!!) and Cozi TV. I think these networks will only get stronger as the year progresses.

Wonder Woman just started airing on Me-TV, actually.

Tubehead 01-11-2014, 05:37 AM i agree with the hub it was good move to show step by step i always imaged that dinosaurs would be good fit for the hub i also think family matters world do well for the hub since their showings 1990s shows how about saved by the bell perfect stranger's boy meets world? I also think good station I been watching lately is gospel music channel or now know as uplifting entertainment they just add every one hates Chris and steve harvy talk show not the comedy show. I think theses show fit good for uplifting entertainment as family fude since their airing steve harvy show why not family fude. early edition , Duck Dynasty hanging with Mr. cooper , my two dads , 8 simple rules, Sabrina the teenager witch & Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
Will and Grace Fanatic 01-11-2014, 12:13 PM I'm gonna disagree. Networks can only rise if they have original programming. So not sure which network though.
tlc38tlc38 01-11-2014, 12:34 PM I'm excited about the new "The Quad TV" channels. It'll be interesting to see how these develop and what shows they air from the 60s, 70s, 80s, & 90s.
irehtman 01-11-2014, 04:57 PM Alright...
brtcmfn 02-05-2014, 12:32 PM Looks like Quad TV will be delayed a little longer based on there reply on there FB page:
"(Launch is now Q4, 2014 or Q1, 2015). We are hoping to announce carriage deals at mid-year...when the long-form contracts are hammered out”

I really hope DIRECTV offers these 4 channels AND at no extra fee. I can hardly afford my bill now as it is.
TKMetal 02-05-2014, 02:36 PM Hopefully they actually launch.
brtcmfn 02-10-2014, 09:03 AM Hopefully they actually launch.
Looks like they are planning for it :)
Posted on their FB page a few hours ago:
"The next two weeks are all about contracts for the best shows of each decade. (And continuing our contracts with cable & satellite operators). Send us your zip codes and operators (Dish/TWC, etc.) and we'll do our best to make sure you will know where to find The Quad in your area..."
mr awesome 02-12-2014, 10:46 AM NBC is on the comeback trail, finally. Their drama slate is solid,, they just need to work on comedies now. The broad appeal comedies did not work, it did not jive with their comedy identity which is highly SNL based. Over-relying on SNL creatively may be a clutch, but that's a different topic alltogether.
