"Key & Peele" Star To Guest on "The Middle" -- EXCLUSIVE

Keegan-Michael Key is going to be the Heck family’s savior.

At least, he’s going to try when the comedian guest stars on an upcoming episode of "The Middle".

EW has learned exclusively that star — best known as being one half of comedy duo Key and Peele, alongside Jordan Peele — will play Reverend Deveaux, a charismatic preacher visiting the Hecks’ church through a minister exchange program.

In the episode, Deveaux, the former spiritual adviser to the Cleveland Browns, will offer his counseling services to the Heck family, as he “knows a group in crisis when he sees one,” according to a casting description.

The episode was recently filmed but does not yet have an airdate.

New episodes return Wednesday on ABC.

I liked Keegan's appearance as the guest reverend. I would much rather him be a recurring character than the reverend Tim-Tom, who is a poor portrayal of a minister and too sacreligious.

Was that the episode which took place solely at the church and not at the house, with Sue coming up with an endless list of transgressions (like twerking)? If so, that was my least favorite episode of the series.
