Star Trek Generations was arguably the most hated and polarizing Trek film before the more recent entry, Star Trek Into Darkness. Well, I’m here to tell you we need to start taking it easy on Star Trek Generations because upon further review, it’s an extremely fun, very “Trek” themed entry into the franchise.

There was simply too much focus on this film when it was released concerning how Kirk’s death was handled, along with many questioning what the Nexus ribbon’s true meaning was. From the layers associated with explorers finding a new life inside the Nexus, to the different themes of friendship, and death, this film was very true to the vision Gene Roddenberry had established almost 50 years ago.

Bottom line, strap yourselves in for 5 reasons Star Trek Generations is an excellent Star Trek film…

In 1994, the first film starring the Star Trek: The Next Generation crew arrived in theaters. I’ve had a lot of time since then to think about what went wrong with it. Star Trek Generations (http://dejareviewer.com/2014/09/16/how-to-fix-star-trek-generations/) is a puzzling film because its flaws are so glaring:

The Nexus passes incredibly close to Earth (the headquarters of the Federation) at the start of the film, and yet the Enterprise-B is the only ship close enough to attempt a rescue.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard can pick any point in time to go back to and yet he picks the one time when he’s at a significant disadvantage to try to stop Tolian Soran’s plan.
James T. Kirk’s death is a pale shadow of the emotional one given to Spock in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
Rather than pointing out all this movie’s flaws, which many other reviewers have done brilliantly (including the Nostalgia Critic, SF Debris, and Confused Matthew), I am going to explain how to fix it.

I like "Star Trek: Generations"- it's a great movie! (Of course, I love all the Star Trek movies, for the most part. I will admit that I'm not very fond of "Star Trek: Nemesis" and all the J.J. Abrams "Star Trek" movies, but even they have some good scenes I do like.)
And at least with the death of Captain Kirk in "Star Trek: Generations" and the death of Data in "Star Trek: Nemesis", both characters have been brought back from death in the novels, so I'm good with that now.:)
(I still don't like that Spock has basically had his entire planet and dimension as he knew it wrecked and that storyline has been left hanging..... hopefully Star Trek XIII will explain that finally.)
