Watching some episodes, I really got a kick out of the Selma Plout character. Her conniving, sarcastic style made a great foil to Kate Bradley. Should "Petticoat Junction" made her a full time character or would that be too much Plout?

OH Nuts!

I liked the character too and would have liked to see more Selma in the series.

Another character played by two actresses. I had only seen the later color episodes with , ( the actress who played the candy assembly line forman in I Love lucy ) as Selma Plout. This actress was also in the Fan Magazine episode of I love Lucy too as the woman who tell Lucy to bang on the door to get Minnie Finch's attention. I have seen the black and white eps of PJ and i do like this womans way of playing the part.

I think too much Selma Plout would have gotten stale in a hurry; like if Homer Bedloe had appeared almost every episode. I wonder if those 2 ever met.

I have also wondered if the name Plout came from combining pout and plot. Thus, Selma Plout = 'sell my plot' or 'sell my pout.'

As much as I like Elvia Allman if Selma had become a regular that would have been too much Plout! Like Homer Bedloe she was better as an occasinal character.

I don't know if they have met but I do agree that too much of a good think would have gotten stale.

A little Plout goes a long way.
