View Full Version : HBO's Six Feet Under Pitooey 03-01-2002, 12:57 AM I cannot wait for this Sunday to see the new episodes of Six feet under. Does anyone here watch the show? :D TJL 03-01-2002, 01:12 AM Four words - Best Drama on HBO. That's right Soprano fans, I said it! I am looking forward to the new season. It is a totally unique show, with a truly interesting vision of life, and death. Kitt 03-01-2002, 07:32 PM I watch it and I agree, it is top quality writing, plots, characters, lots of surprizes. The Sopranos I like more though but that might be because I've always been intersted in mafia history and the culture of that whole gangster mind set. It took me awhile to adjust to the language on both shows. Finally it began to seem almost humorous instead of vulgar. TJL 03-01-2002, 08:05 PM Don't get me wrong, i do enjoy The Sopranos, but i think that Six Feet Under is the most unique thing HBO has right now. I guess it's because i'm a big fan of the show's creator Alan Ball. He wrote American Beauty, which is one of the greatest films to come along in a long time. XoVanillaRain90oX 03-01-2002, 08:10 PM my dad does, im not allowed :D:D Pitooey 03-01-2002, 09:11 PM I tip my hat off to Alan Ball TJL! Every week I can't wait to see the next installment. Well I'm looking foward to the 2nd season. Oh (At first) the show was surprising to me but, it grows on a person. :D Janice 04-14-2002, 05:27 PM I just adore Six Feet Under. It's so well-written, and the character development is superb. I look forward to Sunday nights for my Fisher family fix. I enjoy The Sopranos and Six Feet Under equally as much. I could never chose a favorite. HBO has two winners on its hands. Janice 04-16-2002, 12:09 PM One of the things that's interesting about Six Feet Under are those wild openers with someone dying. What a novel, albeit morbid, idea. I'm always trying to figure out what's going to happen. The most gruesome one to me was the woman who stood up in the limo, through the moonroof, and was decapitated. Yikes! Pitooey 04-16-2002, 07:33 PM What surprises me is......... Why aren't the other actors getting any recognition? They have fabulous actors in this show. The daughter, The mother, The gay son, The policeman, The young man working for the brothers........ All these people should be getting some kind of plaque! IheartMoonlighting 04-19-2002, 01:25 AM Moonlighting had the same type of intro. so it's nothing new. If there was a case, Moonlighting always opened up with a small teaser. Yikes! IheartMoonlighting 04-19-2002, 01:27 AM the acting on this show is top notch. i bet you anything they will clean up this year at the emmys especially since sopranos can't get any nominations this year. It's going to be all about Six Feet Under and the Emmy snub. Sopranos was snubbed too by the Emmys when it first aired. Originally posted by JennyLee22 What surprises me is......... If there was a case, Moonlighting always opened up with a small teaser. Lots of crime/mystery shows had teasers that set the stage for the show's plot....Columbo and Moonlighting are good examples--these shows were about solving crimes/murders. Six Feet Under is different in the sense that you know someone's going to die within the minute. The death occurs to provide a corpse for Fisher & Sons Funeral Home, and the show is not centered around the death, yet it provides a backdrop for the show's main characters. If the death does become part of the show, it's usually to address one of the main character's issues. It depicts ordinary people living their lives one minute, and unexpectedly dying the next--usually under bizarre circumstances. It may be a child with a gun, a fatal dive into a swimming pool, a sex act gone awry or a crack over the head with a frying pan. Six Feet Under is not a who-done-it. It doesn't involve blackmail, a jealous husband, or any crime for that matter. That's the difference, to me anyway. What's different also is the way the show fades to white after each death, listing the person's birth and death dates. Teasers are as old as my Aunt Millie. These openers create a buzz, a watercooler buzz, so to speak. My friends will say things like, "Wild opener on Six Feet Under last night, wasn't it?" I don't recall any such buzz on any other show's openers. I didn't mean to take so long to express this, but I think the openers on Six Feet Under are a clever and fresh concept. IheartMoonlighting 04-20-2002, 01:36 AM Of course people are going to talk about the openers because of the shock value. We are talking about death here. and it's on hbo so they can pretty much get away with great deal. I guess i don't find it all that clever because the technique has been done before in other shows. and by technique, i'm talking about the teaser format. Alan Ball is just good. and if he wasn't behind the show, i don't think it would be as compelling. Pitooey 04-26-2002, 09:46 PM Leeza Gibbons will be on the show this Sunday. I can't wait to see it. And that Policeman Kevin Woooooooooo! He is a fine HUNK! IheartMoonlighting 04-27-2002, 02:24 AM Calling Kevin a hunk is an understatement. When Claire said, that cop is hot.. i was like, tell me about. I think we should all fire off an email telling Alan Ball, Thanks for keeping Keith. Originally posted by JennyLee22 Leeza Gibbons will be on the show this Sunday. I can't wait to see it. I can't stand most of HBO's show's but this is the one I really love. I missed the last episode so I'm gonna be watching the encore of it tonight at 11. Swimfan85 05-11-2002, 06:45 PM okay I do not normally, what the show, but I think I am going to watch it sometime because I was telling my mom how Jay Harrington(from the division) lived in the town that is down the street from me...and so my mom was like "that girl from six feet under" was from our town....something I like to share.....heh Janice 05-12-2002, 01:22 AM Hey, your Red Sox logo avatar is better than mine. I'm jealous, but as long as Red Sox Nation is strong, it doesn't matter. :) Swimfan85 05-13-2002, 03:25 PM Originally posted by JanLady617 Hey, your Red Sox logo avatar is better than mine. I'm jealous, but as long as Red Sox Nation is strong, it doesn't matter. :) YES....i agree...lets stay strong go sox.....I have 3 nomar auto graphs....1 shea hillenbrand...2 Johnny Damon....heheh but back to the subject.......GOOD SHOOOOOOOOWWW Notorious 06-03-2002, 03:35 PM Originally posted by TJL Four words - Best Drama on HBO.
