James wanted a job that paid well. James did not have a problem finding work, he was always working, he just wanted ONE job that paid well so that he did not have to struggle so much and work two and three jobs. I don't see why you have such a problem with a person getting an education or thinking that getting some sort of education is important. I don't know about you, but I have yet to see any employer who offers a great salary to where a family of 5 could live off of and you do not have to have any kind of HS or College diploma, Unless you have some special talent.

Back in the 1930 to 1970's, many women worked as secretaries, answering phones, taking shorthand, typing letters, greeting people, making appointments and pushing away the lush who would get to close to her. . Maybe today the title has changed to fancy term but helped the single gal get along in life til maybe she found a husband who would support her and the children. Please don't make it sound like an awful job. I realized today women have moved up the ranks to become presidents of companies and there are more opportunities for women. No I am not a secretary, I couldn't type more than a page a day and shorthand forget that.

Things have changed now a day a lot businesses want their "Receptionist/Admin Assistance" to have at least an Associates degree or some kind of course work in business. That is why it's all basically the same job, it's just a title.

That is not true, it is Retail and Food Service businesses who are mainly hiring part time employee's. Most businesses that would require a Receptionist would prob open at 8 and close at 5 or 6. Who in their right mind would hire two receptionist to work between those hrs?
