Chad22 12-21-2013, 01:36 AM http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/StormtrackerTF/ChristmasCabin.jpg So cozy. Chad22 12-21-2013, 01:37 AM Merry Christmas Evabodies! Merry Christmas, Roby! Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 03:30 AM Merry Christmas Evabodies! The day is NEAR. Chad22 12-21-2013, 03:32 AM The day is NEAR. TOO near. This year has gone by so fast that I'm already sad, and Christmas isn't even over yet. This month has seriously just breezed right on by. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 03:33 AM What is this balderdash? Chad22 12-21-2013, 03:36 AM What is this balderdash? Do robots celebrate Christmas? Robottokah? Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 03:36 AM TOO near. This year has gone by so fast that I'm already sad, and Christmas isn't even over yet. This month has seriously just breezed right on by. I know, can't believe how quick. :( This feels like by FAR the quickest Christmas season ever. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 03:37 AM What is this balderdash? So was that you who signed me up for some Virginia Economic Development Partnership thing? Chad22 12-21-2013, 03:40 AM I know, can't believe how quick. :( This feels like by FAR the quickest Christmas season ever. It really does. Next year better be extra long to make up for this. Chad22 12-21-2013, 03:40 AM So was that you who signed me up for some Virginia Economic Development Partnership thing? LOL I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 03:41 AM Do robots celebrate Christmas? Robottokah? Yes but the reason for the season is our maker, Mr. Gates. He gives us a ceremonial reprogramming. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 03:41 AM It really does. Next year better be extra long to make up for this. It'll actually be like a day longer I think, so a little bit at least. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 03:42 AM LOL I got this random email the other night asking me to confirm my membership and I was just like "Gee, wonder who was behind this" I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 03:43 AM So was that you who signed me up for some Virginia Economic Development Partnership thing? I listened to your podcast and our fine Commonwealth was not listed among your places to visit or setup your giant Christmastime cabin! Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 03:46 AM I listened to your podcast and our fine Commonwealth was not listed among your places to visit or setup your giant Christmastime cabin! Wow, thanks for listening. What did you think of it? I actually would like to visit pretty much anywhere, apparently there's lots to see in Virginia. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 03:56 AM Wow, thanks for listening. What did you think of it? I actually would like to visit pretty much anywhere, apparently there's lots to see in Virginia. I said I would! Your voice is not...what I was expecting. You don't actually sound midwestern, at least not what I thought of as midwestern. Indeed I'm not sure you have much of an accent. (Note this is neither good nor bad - just merely my observation!) I think I was expecting like something almost Ford-esque since you mentioned that many Michiganders talk with an accent, lol. It seemed pretty well done actually. I was sad I couldn't comment without signing up though :(. I think I was viewer 5 or 6 of that episode. Indeed we do! Did the tourism people send you an e-mail too? ;) Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:06 AM I said I would! Your voice is not...what I was expecting. I actually could have swore you heard my voice before. I appreciate the listen and the kind words. We work pretty hard on it. Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:10 AM I said I would! It's kinda funny to me that he's this short dude with a deep voice and I'm like 6'4 and sound nothing like it. Thanks for checking out the show, man! I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:12 AM  The accent thing. I actually could have swore you heard my voice before. I appreciate the listen and the kind words. We work pretty hard on it. I actually don't think I had. I remember you getting on Ventrilo or TeamSpeak long long ago but I think at the time you didn't have a mic (could have misremembered that!). I also saw one of your YouTube videos but I don't think you talked in it. Hmm. Yeah I remember Chad saying "dont listen to the early ones" but if they were like the last ones I don't see much of a problem. It works rather well. What software are you using? Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:15 AM I actually don't think I had. I remember you getting on Ventrilo or TeamSpeak long long ago but I think at the time you didn't have a mic (could have misremembered that!). A program called Pamela that works pretty well when it wants to, but has caused maaaaaaany headaches over the years when it comes to losing entire shows we've recorded 90% of. I remember that, I think it was Ventrillo. Back in the old CLAN days. Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:16 AM I remember the first time I ever talked to Karen she got SCARED or something. LOL Scared. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:18 AM I had also never heard Joe before. I was like O_O I seem to think I had heard Chad - probably in the YouTube video. His accent is very subtle. For the record, I detest my own voice. I have always thought I sounded like a southern clown. My definition of which is "Far enough south to have something of a southern accent but not far enough south for it to be actually real, so it's like clownish half-way" Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:20 AM LOL Scared. I forget exactly what she said but she legitimately sounded scared, I guess because she didn't think my voice matched my appearance. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:20 AM I remember the first time I ever talked to Karen she got SCARED or something. I FEEL LEFT OUT who is Karen. *sheepish grin* (actually the name sounds familiar but I'm not sure I ever really got to know him/her - presuming it's a her) I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:24 AM A program called Pamela that works pretty well when it wants to, but has caused maaaaaaany headaches over the years when it comes to losing entire shows we've recorded 90% of. Pamela? Is that like...HAL's sister? *looks up* (I've actually never heard of it. Which makes me kind of sad.) Ventrilo I remember being like "TeamSpeak sucks, we must get on Ventrilo - it's superior! [technically]" Which, it is (or was then when TeamSpeak 2 was in Duke Nukem Forever-like vapor status. WHEN IT'S DONE!) But it limited you to 8 users for the free version and that company wouldn't sell me a license because I wasn't an OEM. Yes I am still perturbed! Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:25 AM I FEEL LEFT OUT who is Karen. *sheepish grin* (actually the name sounds familiar but I'm not sure I ever really got to know him/her - presuming it's a her) You remember Karen, she posted here a lot back in 2005-2006. Whatever happened to that ET Server anyway? I actually was shocked to go on there recently (the game, not your old server obviously) and see it still had a big following 10 years later. Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:28 AM You remember Karen, she posted here a lot back in 2005-2006. We need to convince her to come back here one of these days. Fun memories on the GRAVEYARD SHIFT with her back in 2006, like that night we spent looking at Wikipedia entries for various fetishes LOL I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:33 AM You remember Karen, she posted here a lot back in 2005-2006. I mostly remember Jackie, primarily because she disappeared into the firmament and I always wondered what (would) bec(o/a)me of her. Also KayCee. Or Stormtracker KC. Hmpf. And then there's Joe. And Kelsey. My mind must hate me. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:34 AM We need to convince her to come back here one of these days. Fun memories on the GRAVEYARD SHIFT with her back in 2006, like that night we spent looking at Wikipedia entries for various fetishes LOL LOL OH MAN, I remember that. That's what spawned that Jack classic with James Avery on the Pumpkin. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:36 AM I mostly remember Jackie, primarily because she disappeared into the firmament and I always wondered what (would) bec(o/a)me of her. Also KayCee. Or Stormtracker KC. Hmpf. And then there's Joe. And Kelsey. My mind must hate me. All of them are still around, except for Jackie. Her and her sister literally just disappeared from the internet one day without a trace, I STILL say it has something to do with their Dad being a high ranking military officer of some sort. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:36 AM We need to convince her to come back here one of these days. Fun memories on the GRAVEYARD SHIFT with her back in 2006, like that night we spent looking at Wikipedia entries for various fetishes LOL emetophilia! Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:36 AM I mostly remember Jackie, primarily because she disappeared into the firmament and I always wondered what (would) bec(o/a)me of her. We pretty much all wonder this. Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:37 AM All of them are still around, except for Jackie. Her and her sister literally just disappeared from the internet one day without a trace, I STILL say it has something to do with their Dad being a high ranking military officer of some sort. *Ravey is currently being kept in Area 51.* Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:39 AM emetophilia! *Looks up* Well, that's a new one. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa5/CDoody/PeterVanFace.gif I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:39 AM All of them are still around, except for Jackie. Her and her sister literally just disappeared from the internet one day without a trace, I STILL say it has something to do with their Dad being a high ranking military officer of some sort. The way she disappeared always really bugged me. It seemed...odd. I know she had problems but I don't recall anything leading up to it. She was there and then... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAAlDoAtV7Y Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:40 AM *Ravey is currently being kept in Area 51.* Would not be shocked if it was something like that to be honest. I mean there literally is not a TRACE of them anywhere. Jackie I would get, since she was kinda flighty and would hide from us all from time to time, but her sister was never that way. I talked to her just a few years back, around the time we first went to Chicago. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:40 AM *Looks up* Well, that's a new one. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa5/CDoody/PeterVanFace.gif LOL really? how about constructophilia? Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:42 AM *Looks up* Well, that's a new one. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa5/CDoody/PeterVanFace.gif Wow, this must be pretty rare. Never heard of anyone with that one. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:42 AM Would not be shocked if it was something like that to be honest. I mean there literally is not a TRACE of them anywhere. Jackie I would get, since she was kinda flighty and would hide from us all from time to time, but her sister was never that way. I talked to her just a few years back, around the time we first went to Chicago. I'd guess it would be far harder to disappear from the internets today. I think at one point I tried to look up her name (which I believe I've since forgotten) and found nothing. I don't recall what I found on the e-mail address but it wasn't really useful. It was just bizarre. I'm not sure I've ever had anyone fall of the planet like that before. Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:44 AM LOL really? how about constructophilia? Never heard of this either. Nothing gets the ol' motor running like staring out the window at a BRIDGE. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:45 AM The way she disappeared always really bugged me. It seemed...odd. I know she had problems but I don't recall anything leading up to it. She was there and then... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAAlDoAtV7Y It really bugged me too. I think the last time I ever seen her online anywhere was back in 2009. :( She seemed really happy then though, she was engaged and had moved out and all that. She had a job as some kind of tech support person for AT&T I think it was. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:45 AM Patron: O'Quinn Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: 1. That § 46.2-877 (http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+46.2-877) of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows: § 46.2-877 (http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+46.2-877). Minimum speed limits. No person shall drive a motor vehicle either (i) at less than the posted maximum speed limit in the left-most lane of any Interstate Highway or (ii) at such a slow speed as to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law. I will consider this a Christmas present if it passes. http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?141+ful+HB51 /soapbox Wait isn't there a soapbox emoticon here? Which reminds me what hapepned to safetypin? Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:48 AM It really bugged me too. I think the last time I ever seen her online anywhere was back in 2009. :( She seemed really happy then though, she was engaged and had moved out and all that. She had a job as some kind of tech support person for AT&T I think it was. That's all that really matters at the end of the day. Funnily, the last time I ever talked to her I remember apologizing to her for all those jokes years ago and pretty much every rotten thing I ever did or said to her. We kind of "made peace" in a way. I know EFD still regrets he never got to do that. Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:48 AM I will consider this a Christmas present if it passes. http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?141+ful+HB51 /soapbox Wait isn't there a soapbox emoticon here? Which reminds me what hapepned to safetypin? She's still around on Facebook, I dunno if she posts here much anymore. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:49 AM Never heard of this either. Nothing gets the ol' motor running like staring out the window at a BRIDGE. HAHA well there was that guy that was arrested recently for having sex with his sofa in public. ...it was the second time the cops had to arrest him for this same thing. It happened in Ohio. Incidentally, supposedly things with objects are not just fetishes but "paraphilias". I don't know what that means, I just read it one day. But I think agalmatophila (if I spelled that right) wins. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:50 AM I'd guess it would be far harder to disappear from the internets today. I think at one point I tried to look up her name (which I believe I've since forgotten) and found nothing. I don't recall what I found on the e-mail address but it wasn't really useful. It was just bizarre. I'm not sure I've ever had anyone fall of the planet like that before. That's a good point. I'd probably never be able to truly disappear from the internet at this stage. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:50 AM That's all that really matters at the end of the day. Funnily, the last time I ever talked to her I remember apologizing to her for all those jokes years ago and pretty much every rotten thing I ever did or said to her. We kind of "made peace" in a way. I know EFD still regrets he never got to do that. YOU TORMENTED JACKIE? Oddly she always seemed rather normal to me. That could speak to me, though. Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:52 AM That's a good point. I'd probably never be able to truly disappear from the internet at this stage. I'd find you. I used to be really good at finding Joe whenever he would disappear (pre internet problems) back in the day, to a somewhat creepy extent. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:52 AM I will consider this a Christmas present if it passes. http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?141+ful+HB51 /soapbox Wait isn't there a soapbox emoticon here? Which reminds me what hapepned to safetypin? So wait, you have to drive at LEAST the maximum speed limit? What if you go over? I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:52 AM It really bugged me too. I think the last time I ever seen her online anywhere was back in 2009. :( She seemed really happy then though, she was engaged and had moved out and all that. She had a job as some kind of tech support person for AT&T I think it was. Haha I remember when she first got that job. She told me basically she was technically illiterate and after one day of tech support she felt like everyone else was even dumber than she'd imagined. I think that's around the time she disappeared. Is Safety Pin doing well? Incidentally was there ever a wedding? Or whatever was Kentucky's equivalent? (I think it was Kentucky...) Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:53 AM It happened in Ohio. Why doesn't this surprise me? Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:53 AM YOU TORMENTED JACKIE? Oddly she always seemed rather normal to me. That could speak to me, though. Yeah, we all kinda did. :/ Mostly just got on her for coming off ditzy at times. It didn't seem all that mean spirited back then, but looking back it was pretty brutal. I'm honestly shocked she put up with it. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:54 AM That's all that really matters at the end of the day. Funnily, the last time I ever talked to her I remember apologizing to her for all those jokes years ago and pretty much every rotten thing I ever did or said to her. We kind of "made peace" in a way. I know EFD still regrets he never got to do that. :( I kinda was able to do the same, which was a bit different because I was always pretty close to her, but we went through a period where we were ALWAYS arguing about something. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:55 AM Haha I remember when she first got that job. She told me basically she was technically illiterate and after one day of tech support she felt like everyone else was even dumber than she'd imagined. I think that's around the time she disappeared. Is Safety Pin doing well? Incidentally was there ever a wedding? Or whatever was Kentucky's equivalent? (I think it was Kentucky...) Tennessee. I have no idea, like I said, haven't talked to her in almost a half decade now. She seems to be doing fine as far as I can tell from Facebook. We're not close or anything, but she is one of the few old SO'ers that weren't strictly from our group that I still have kept in touch with in some way. I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 04:56 AM So wait, you have to drive at LEAST the maximum speed limit? What if you go over? It's departmental policy not to pull folks on VA interstates for <5 mph over. In practice no one outside of Hopewell in southside is ever pulled for anything under 10 over unless they are behaving stupidly. It's sort of the unspoken bargain. Virginia law makes driving 20 mph or over or >80 at any time to be reckless driving by statute. Of course the cop can always write it for 79 or something which happens frequently but as such they don't generally pull folks on interstates (most posted at 65 or 70) until they exceed 80. The one wrinkle is when the General Assembly upped the maximum speed limit to 70 a few years back they didn't change the reckless statute so your cushion went to 10 mph before you're over 80. Basically don't be stupid and don't go over 80 in Virginia and you'll be fine. It should be noted that it's already state law to "Move over to let an overtaking vehicle pass" which is posted as "Slower Traffic Keep Right" but no one gets the message so evidently they want to force it. Or else O'Quinn does. Which is funny because I think he's from a rural area with no traffic. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:57 AM I'd find you. I used to be really good at finding Joe whenever he would disappear (pre internet problems) back in the day, to a somewhat creepy extent. In a strange way I'd love to do this, it'd be like some extreme digital version of hide and seek. I actually think I'd be REALLY good at creating a totally new identity that no one would suspect. Chad22 12-21-2013, 04:58 AM In a strange way I'd love to do this, it'd be like some extreme digital version of hide and seek. I actually think I'd be REALLY good at creating a totally new identity that no one would suspect. So would I, but I have alot of experience basically DOING this years ago just for the purpose of pulling pranks. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 04:58 AM It's departmental policy not to pull folks on VA interstates for <5 mph over. It didn't seem all that mean spirited back then, but looking back it was pretty brutal. I'm honestly shocked she put up with it. Hmm. I don't remember doing that. I hope I didn't. I do think I made some jokes about the fact that she was always horny but she never seemed bothered. :| I always felt bad for her because as I said she seemed normal. Maybe everyone does online, heh. Chad22 12-21-2013, 05:00 AM Hmm. I don't remember doing that. I hope I didn't. I do think I made some jokes about the fact that she was always horny but she never seemed bothered. :| I always felt bad for her because as I said she seemed normal. Maybe everyone does online, heh. Many actually (safety pin that is) but the last time she was rather active she seemed much better than she had been. I do recall her wanting her ex boyfriend to be murdered but I suppose that's normal! (Actually as I recall the guy was a jerk so...) Also she always said her location was Antarctica. Which amused me for some reason.. Stormtracker TF 12-21-2013, 05:02 AM So would I, but I have alot of experience basically DOING this years ago just for the purpose of pulling pranks. You sure do, Fefe. Chad22 12-21-2013, 05:02 AM You sure do, Fefe. Wee wee ;) I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 05:04 AM If everyone were arrested for going 80 here I think half the population of Metro Detroit would be in jail. Even 90 is fairly common. I recall getting pulled over once in Indiana. I think I was going 80 because the speed limit was 70 (to my knowledge Indiana has no reckless statute, but I generally go 10 over). The guy was probably the nicest cop I've ever met (I've never really met an a-hole cop but he just stood out as so cheerful). He was like "I'm SORRY I have to pull you over. We've just had a lot of accidents in this area and fatalities a few weeks back so we're trying to step it up a bit for awhile." He did actually seem sorry. I didn't get a ticket, so there was that. Fortunately we have a solution to the problem of speeders: gridlock! I think most of the time cops figure you can't really speed that much anyway because of the traffic. It's also actually physically dangerous to pull people over in many places because there are no shoulders or the shoulders are being used for traffic in rush hour. It's not worth getting an officer killed (which I get). I am Roboto 12-21-2013, 05:06 AM no such thing as normal Ha. I suppose it's all relative. Not where I'm at, unfortunately ("just" mid 70's here), but numerous locations in southeastern Virginia ("the tidewater") had temperatures at or over 80. Chesapeake was the leader at 84. That was after an overnight period when it didn't really drop out of the upper 60's. It's interesting if you look at the daily summary for Virginia Beach it was up to 80 and then the wind shifted off of the water (the seabreeze effect, which you don't usually see in December - lol) and temperature dropped back in the low 60s in like two hours. But a few miles inland it was still 80. Still 66. Flood watches up and a chance of gusty thunderstorms. At least 14" of potential snow all lost. :( To make matters worse, it was 33°F the entire time. Although even if it were below freezing, it just all would have been freezing rain which would have been a disaster. The closest real snowfall was over 100 miles north of here. It also washed away the 9" of snow we had before. I take it you were sorry for the lost snow xP. Did you get any warm weather? This system has been really efficient at yanking up the deep tropical air. And I do mean DEEP. It's not just the temperatures, dew points have been running in the 60's since yesterday. 850 mbar temperatures were like +16-17C yesterday. That would be upper 80's in summer. The NWS said Reagan National had never had H85 temperatures that warm this late on record. I suspect had there been more sunshine to mix it down (the central and northern part of the state got mid morning showers) it would have been 80 + there too. I am Roboto 12-23-2013, 01:32 AM No, like I said, it was 33 during the entire storm basically. Although at one point there was an incredible temperature gradient going on, right at the Ohio border there were stations at 57 degrees while less than 20 miles to the north it was at the freezing mark. 5 days out the models were showing an area of high pressure suppressing the system to the south and helping pump arctic air into the storm, and several runs of the european model showed us getting in excess of 20" of snow. Obviously the warm air won out and this came nowhere close to materializing. :( ARE YOU IN WINTER MODE THEN. (You sound like you really wanted COLD) ;). For some reason I didn't realize you all had already had that much snow. I guess I'm used to these mildish winters the eastern half of the country has been having. There was a lot of talk back in October that winter would start cold in November and into December and turn mild through perhaps February. I thought that was a bit too specific since I never really heard it articulated WHY the change would occur other than it has in the past on certain analogue winters. But it's looking rather prescient. November into early December was actually quite cold here. We've already had several "snows" though one was heavily mixed with ice and then changed to rain and the other occurred around midnight one day and melted by dawn. *Pleasant Tomorrow* 12-23-2013, 01:46 AM FINE BITCHES DON'T ANSWER ME GO MAKE OUT WITH EACH OTHER IN THE EYE OF A HURRICANE OR SOMETHING I am Roboto 12-23-2013, 01:53 AM FINE BITCHES DON'T ANSWER ME GO MAKE OUT WITH EACH OTHER IN THE EYE OF A HURRICANE OR SOMETHING I WAS WAITING FOR TF TO OPINE. Absolutely horrible, unless you're actually trying to buy a place. Granted we live in a very crappy area, but in 2005 our house was still worth a little over $70,000. Today it literally would go for about $5,000 if it could even be sold at all. I don't pay the taxes so I actually am not sure of that. DA HOME GUY 12-24-2013, 03:17 AM Where is he? I am surprised he has not popped in here. He went to bed early, he's getting up for Christmas Eve festivities. He might pop in later but I'm not sure. He's pretty much the exact opposite with me because Christmas Eve for me is usually the calm before the storm on Christmas day  Stormtracker TF 12-24-2013, 03:17 AM Where is he? I am surprised he has not popped in here. Asleep apparently, I'm guessing he's trying to get onto a schedule that will permit him to actually wake up at reasonable hour tomorrow. I guess he does most of his Christmas stuff tomorrow, like opening gifts and whatnot. Stormtracker TF 12-24-2013, 03:19 AM We almost have to take the tree itself down after before it starts to make a huge mess. I can't imagine taking the tree down on Chritmas day though, that just sounds depressing  . Do you know what movies you're going to watch later on tonight for the annual family Christmas movie-thon or is that usually just decided spur of the moment? Usually is a spur of the moment type thing. Only two I know for sure is The Grinch and Monsters University, which I am aware isn't a Christmas movie, but my Mom wanted to see it so we got it as a gift for her. Stormtracker TF 12-24-2013, 03:20 AM He went to bed early, he's getting up for Christmas Eve festivities. Christmas Eve a bunch of family gets together and we have some TAMALES and stuff, and give gifts to everyone. Then Christmas morning we open them, and I go to one of my aunts' places afterwards before returning home to eat dinner and relax. Though, maybe the more dark ones like that Mickey Mouse one would be more fitting. DA HOME GUY 12-24-2013, 03:22 AM Christmas Eve and Day are usually crazy for me. Christmas Eve a bunch of family gets together and we have some TAMALES and stuff, and give gifts to everyone. Then Christmas morning we open them, and I go to one of my aunts' places afterwards before returning home to eat dinner and relax. Eve for us tomorrow is eating tamales beforehand and basically realxing. Wednesday is chaos with everyone coming over more tamales/roast  Wal Mart was actually a mad house today doing last minute shopping to the point where a lot of the stuff we were looking for was gone. Latest we've ever Christmas shopped and my grandparents are still crazy enough to go out tomorrow to finish it. Though, maybe the more dark ones like that Mickey Mouse one would be more fitting. We actually DID watch that Mickey Mouse one before, if I remember correctly I have it on VHS somewhere LOL Olive The Other Reindeer we watched a bunch of years, but now that Phil of the Future episode, Beavis and Butthead, and Mr. Ed, I can safely say we have not. Stormtracker TF 12-24-2013, 03:24 AM Eve for us tomorrow is eating tamales beforehand and basically realxing. Latest we've ever Christmas shopped and my grandparents are still crazy enough to go out tomorrow to finish it. Wow, talk about LAST MINUTE. I kinda told you already about the madness yesterday at the stores, but it was pretty crazy here already. Can't imagine doing that on Christmas eve actually. I thankfully wrapped up the last packages I hadn't gotten done yet earlier today, so I'm all good on that front. Today it literally would go for about $5,000 if it could even be sold at all. I don't pay the taxes so I actually am not sure of that. Well I think in most places it's still a buyer's market. Housing has recovered over all - particularly in some places where it really collapsed (California, Nevada, Florida - of course when you're starting from so far down it's not really all that impressive), but still that's kind of astonishing. I mean I saw your house. It didn't really look bad. You'd think the land alone would be worth more than that. Hmpf. The way I read about city services in Detroit (although I guess you're in Wayne more properly) it sounds like they should be paying you instead of taking money for taxes. That said, I have read a lot of rather good things (at least better) recently. Do you get that sense? Stormtracker TF 12-24-2013, 03:25 AM I kinda find it hard to believe that many people even actually shop the day before Christmas, but even BF who works in retail is going to be working until 6PM which I would find very angering but will probably have to do myself a lot of times working in the IT field. :( Stormtracker TF 12-24-2013, 03:28 AM Well I think in most places it's still a buyer's market. That said, I have read a lot of rather good things (at least better) recently. Do you get that sense? You can LITERALLY buy property in Detroit for $1. I've seen it a bunch of times, and it even has made national news as kind of a very sad and unfortunate joke. As far as the city in general, there have been some improvements especially in the city center which has been pretty dramatic in the last 10 years or so, but the further away you get from downtown the less visible any changes are. In those areas, it kinda is like the snowball effect that has been going on for decades is just slowing down, not necessarily stopping or going uphill. Of course it's possible you changed it and I knew you under a previous name. Or I just forgot. In which case, I suppose I am guilty of.. http://www.motivationalz.com/pictures/the_epic_fail.jpg |
