Sorry to make a new post, but I just decided to do some research on David Stone after rewatching his segment the other day. I found an old news article in the Google archives on him. A few key facts I was unaware of...
1. He was actually from El Paso, TX and had just recently moved to San Diego.
2. His parents lived in El Paso
3. When he left for his "trip" he was actually on his way home to El Paso to be in a friend's wedding...when he didn't show up, that is what alerted his parents to begin to search for him.
I thought this was interesting...I had always assumed he had lived/grown up in La Jolla and that his family had a business there. I also was under the impression he simply went on a soul-searching journey to find himself...was completely unaware he actually had to go home for a wedding.
Anyways, just thought I would share! Looks like his dad passed away in 2007 as well.
