Katie Couric's Talk Show Canceled after Two Seasons

Katie Couric's syndicated talk show has been canceled after two seasons, Disney-ABC and Couric announced Thursday.

"While production will continue on 'Katie' through June 2014, we've mutually agreed that there will not be a third season of the show," a joint statement read. "We're very proud of everyone's contributions to making Katie the #1 new syndicated talk show of 2012-2013, and we look forward to the rest of the season."


The news comes less than a month after Couric decided to leave ABC News to become a "Global Anchor" at Yahoo News. Couric will make her debut on Yahoo in 2014. Couric's departure comes as she has one year remaining on her three-year contract with ABC.

It was a vanilla show, Katie's personality is not really that exciting to me, so I'd only tune in if a certain celebrity was on, or if she was discussing a certain topic.

Not interest in Katie as a person while she was on CBS Evening News. She made it a point to attack everything she did not like on her new cast! Because of it; I don't really respect her! I heard she got a job with Yahoo! and is doing some sort of special reports. LOL! It like Dan Rather in Current Channel. Totally a give to charity for Katie. On top of that; she is getting married again to a multi-millionaire this time around!:lol:

Some staffers think asking Katie back is a disservice to current “Today” staffers like Natalie Morales and Tamron Hall.

GOOD! Now put "General Hospital" back at 3PM Eastern, where it was for over 40 of its 51 year run and counting.....and the new head of ABC daytime can produce her favorite cheap C**P "Good Afternoon America" at 2PM eastern again.

That would work much better following "The Chew" than "General Hospital" plus most afflates run news at 4PM eastern now, so having "GAA" before local news would be too much!

And why is "M Viera" getting a series?, it will not be sucessful...too much talk............she has the same problem as Couric, people want variety....that is why shows like Wendy Williams, The View, and yes even The Talk continue, and next "The Real" which will be a shouting ego match, just for publicity sake.

I don't care how deep the contracts with NBC News since they know her ratings when she was Anchor at CBS News! Her talk show did not do well either. It was very low ratings! Brian Williams was the top for NBC News until recently!

Plus, they have a new bosses at NBC News that makes the decisions. The key person is a women.

The rumor is that NBC News will try to keep Brian Williams and use a NYC PR firm that help an U.S. President keep his position until his contract runs out! Mr. Williams makes around $25 million per year with bonuses!
