Why was Gunilla Hutton (Billie Jo) missing from so many episodes during season 3?

Apparently she had hepatitis and missed a bunch of shows. I don't think she played the role as well as Jeannine did because she wasn't as man-crazy and that is how Paul Henning envisioned Billie-Jo, but her absence didn't help much in establishing her either as the new Billie. Still, I preferred her in the role over Meredith, who was just too nice and too bland for the part. Lori was much better a successor as a Bradley girl.

Oh wow!! I didn't know she was sick!! Poor thing, hepatitis is serious!!!!! I wonder how she got that!

I thought she was the prettiest Billie Jo, but the shortest run!! She was missing from a lot of the last season 3 eps. I am getting used to Jeanine now as Billie Jo, since METV picked up the B&W first 2 season eps. and of course I always associate Billie Jo with Meredith MacRae too. Even though I found her to be the least pretty of the three Billie Jo's! ;)

I loved Lori as Bobbie Jo, she was always my favorite of all the girls!!! Pat Woodell was beautiful and Lori and Pat resembled each other, but Pat seemed to 'city girl". I think Lori was more bubbly and country girl and made a better Bobbie Jo! Same thing with Meredith, she seemed too city girl too! ;)

Here are the 3 Billie Jo's!!! ;)

Gunilla was my 2nd favorite Billie Jo. Jeannine was 1st, 3rd for Meredith.

I think Gunilla was the most attractive Billie Jo. Very nice feminine features and just downright hot. (Sharon Tate, who was originally considered for the role, was hotter yet.:)) Jeannine was probably the best comedic actress of the three.

Meredith did have more of a "city girl" vibe, but so did June Lockhart as Dr. Janet Craig. I think the wardrobe had a lot to do with that. After all, June had spent several seasons on Lassie as a country farm woman. PJ's styles tended to be New York City at times for both.

Well, I'm on my way to the city lights
To the pretty face that shines her light on the city nights

292257

And I gotta catch a noon train, I gotta be there on time

292258

Oh, it feels so good to know she waits at the end of the line

Sweet, sweet city woman
I can see your face, I can hear your voice, I can almost touch you
Sweet, sweet city woman
Oh, my banjo and me, we got a feel for singin', yeah, yeah

292259

Bon, c'est bon, bon, bon, c'est bon, bon
Bon, c'est bon, bon, bon, bon, bon
Bon, c'est bon, bon, bon, c'est bon, bon
Bon, c'est bon, bon, bon, bon, bon

So long, ma, so long, pa
So long, neighbors and friends

292260

Like a country mornin' all smothered in dew
Ah, she's got a way to make a man feel shiny and new

292261

And she'll sing in the evenin' old familiar tunes

292262

And she feeds me love and tenderness and macaroons

292263

Sweet, sweet city woman
(Oh, she's my) Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet city woman
Sweet, sweet city woman
(Woah, my) Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet city woman
