Is an "Absolutely Fabulous" Movie in the Works?

"Absolutely Fabulous" fans got a small stocking stuffer last week, when co-creator Jennifer Saunders said in an interview that she's about to start work on an Ab Fab movie.

Appearing on the British talk show "This Morning" to promote her new memoir, Saunders said she plans to start writing a script after Christmas. "I'm very close to picking up a pen," she said. "That's how close a movie is."



Ab Fab was first broadcast on the BBC in the early 1990s, and then brought back in the early 2000s. Rumors of a potential movie have been circulating for years, and gained strength when Saunders and her co-star Joanna Lumley reunited in 2012 for three 20th anniversary specials.

The British comedy follows Eddy (Saunders) and Patsy (Lumley), two hard-living business women who continually engage in exploits to try to recapture their youth.

An "Absolutely Fabulous" movie is coming your way, sweet darlings! The beloved British series' creator and star Jennifer Saunders reportedly revealed the news while promoting hew new book, Bonkers: My Life in Laughs, at the Hay Festival in Wales.



"I am writing the film as we speak—it's in the pipeline," she told the crowd at the literature festival.

The film, which would reunite Saunders with co-star Joanna Lumley, would hit screens in 2015, if all goes according to plan. "I am hoping it will be released by the end of next year," Saunders is said to have told festival attendees.



Fingers crossed Edina and Patsy will be hitting the big screen in 2015!
