I was watching my season one DVD and realized the theme music was different from what I remember. Did IDOJ have a different theme song in season one or did Sony use replacement music on the DVD?

Richard Wess wrote the first season theme and most of the episode's scores that season. However, Sidney Sheldon later recalled that he was dissatisfied with Wess' musical approach towards the end of the first season, and began "auditioning" other composers [including Nelson Riddle]. He liked Hugo Montenegro's "quirky" attitude, and chose him to write a new theme for season two...and composed almost all of the scores for the rest of the series.

Just my opinion, but I prefer the theme and music from the 1st season; I also prefer the music and theme used in the 1st season of Gilligan's Island too.

I always felt bad that they called 2 beloved characters "and the rest"

LOL, I can remember when I was a kid and they were playing those episodes, I would quickly sing, "The Professor and Mary Ann" over "and the rest"

The sadder thing was the others were announced with such gusto and flourishes, both vocally and musically. For poor ole Dawn and Russell it was like, out of time, there's them.
