"Wheel of Fortune" Apologizes for Fast and Furious Answer after Paul Walker's Death
12/3/13
by Hilary Lewis

Monday night's "Wheel of Fortune" featured a puzzle with the answer "The Fast and the Furious" just days after star Paul Walker died in a tragic car crash.

The show's Twitter account noted that the episode was taped on Oct. 4 and its airing on Monday night was "an unfortunate coincidence."

"The show that included the puzzle 'The Fast and The Furious' was taped on 10/4/13. It's an unfortunate coincidence that it aired tonight."

The show also posted a message for Walker's family, friends and fans on its Twitter account.

"The hearts of everyone at Wheel of Fortune go out to the family, friends & fans of Paul Walker."

Host Pat Sajak tweeted that he regretted the timing of the episode.

"Feel terrible about timing of 'Fast & Furious' puzzle tonight. Taped long ago & went out to 200 local stations days ago."

I don't really think it was in bad taste to air the episode. And I don't think WOF needs to apologize for airing it. I know the episode was taped in advance but I seen it as a tribute to him not something they should apologize for. PC sucks!

It's a sad coincidence that Paul Walker's death occurred just a couple of days before the "Fast and Furious" episode aired.

When anything is pre-taped, no one knows, much less can predict, when a tragedy like that will occur. If anything, I think the producers and personalities did the best they could.

At least they were nice to apologize about it before people try to criticize. I don't think anything was done wrong to begin with anyway. WOF did not know. If people are getting upset about it, then they need to get over it.

May I say, with all humility, that anyone who thinks politically correctness is awesome, and always complains about 'being offended", is nothing but a degenerate, and should never have been born.

Amen to that!

And if anything the producers couldn't predict when Paul Walker was gonna die and no one could or should for that matter.

IMO, the producers shouldn't be at fault for this one.

One of the many reasons Wheel of Fortune has been on the air either in daytime or primetime for almost 4 decades now, is because the show is classy. They nipped a potential problem in the bud before it escalated at all.

Didn't something similar happen one time on Jeopardy! with either something w/Hurricane Katrina or maybe I'm thinking the category was aviation which aired the day after the 9/11 attacks or something. Fuzzy memory about that one.
