Unlike any of Lucy's series, Bewitched fans tend to be more diverse in which episodes they believe are the best. Of your picks, I would have only included the pilot and Which Witch is Which. None of my other favorite S1 eps made your list: Ling-Ling, Little Pitchers Have Big Fears, It's Magic, Eat at Marios, Mother Meets What's-His-Name. To each his or her own...

Do you not favor "A Is For Aardvark"?

All of those episodes you listed are good. Season One was perhaps the toughest pick of the eight years for me. (The Sargent seasons were MUCH easier.)

I think you're right about this series being particularly divisive in terms episodic preference. But I also think -- in general-- that single camera comedy shows of the '60s tend to evoke more varying opinions compared to the multi-camera shows. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the presence of the audience; I believe it may have something to do with more variety in the storytelling.

With this first season in particular, it was a constant debate about choosing either the funniest episodes or the most well-written episodes. And then again, certain episodes (especially of Bewitched) get points for cool/original premises. With a show like Lucy or Dick Van Dyke, the criteria primarily hinges on which shows have the most laughs.

While "Aardvark" is a fan favorite and its plot hinges on the show's most important premise, I always found it too overwrought at the end and I much prefer S3's "Charlie Harper, Winner" as the series quintessential love-conquers-magic episode.

My favorite of season 1 episode is A Vision Of Sugar Plumbs.
