I've been talking about it for a year or to with relatives and friends and finally decided to rent a stretch limousine for an after-Thanksgiving lunch at a local restaurant. To be precise, a 2010 Lincoln 120" stretch limousine, black, built by Tiffany Coachworks.

I narrowed it down to two companies. One still had the traditional Lincoln Town Car limos, which is what I preferred and the other just sold their last one.

It was only for myself and one of my brothers. My oldest brother and his family showed no interest in riding in it. The chauffeur arrived 20 minutes early. The first thing I noticed when I entered the car was the leather aroma. Probably because with the large amount of seating area (it was an 8-10 passenger limo), it adds up to a lot of leather.

One reason for using the rental was to ride in the Town Car Limo before they are phased out (no longer being made). Another reason was to compare the ride with my '76 Cadillac Limousine. I was kind of surprised to discover that my limo rides about the same (which is very smooth). The stretch did not seem to ride much, if any, better. I would guess it's the difference in suspension systems and weight... my limo weighs about 6,000 lbs; the stretch probably weighs no more than that.

I, of course, took photos and video; a few posted here. I liked the "light show." LED lights on the roof and throughout the car which changed colors. Had the radio set to Christmas music. It was a cool day, so the A/C was not used.

There was still 30 minutes left when I got back home so my mom's nurse and I went for a ride in the area, about 2 miles and 15 minutes. The nurse really enjoyed it and used her tablet to take photos and a video.

So, it worked out well. I am glad I went through with it. It certainly was fun! I don't know if I would do it again because it is relatively expensive.

Has anyone else here rode in a stretch limousine? If so, how was your experience?

That's a very beautiful car and I bet it was fun to ride in. I don't think I could afford to rent a limo though!

Yes, it sure was fun to ride in.

If I ever win a big (over $30 million) lotto jackpot, there will be, parked in my mansion's garage, at least one stretch limousine with a chauffeur ready and waiting!

Mav, for the record, the cost was $395 for four hours and that included tax and tip. The company was Crown Limousine.

I rode inside a stretch limo only once, but it was great. It was back in the year 2000 when I was still in high school. I don't remember what kind of car it was, but it was about the same size in length in yours and the interior was almost identical.

The boss of one of my friends couldn't use her limo gift certificate she received. I believe it was 6 hours already paid for and you had to cover additional time (if any) plus gratuity. A group of us had already planned to attend an in-house event for the WWE, so we all decided to use the limo to take us to and from the event.

I didn't have to pay anything because this was all a b-day gift from my friends.

Something I was curious about... sun roofs in limos have been banned here in NYC by the TLC (Taxi and Limousine Commission) for a few years now. I heard that it was due to the many accidents caused my people when sticking their heads and arms out through it.

I didn't notice one on your limo. Have they been banned over by you as well?

That is a good question, James, about the sunroof. I just checked the website of the company I used and there is one available with a sunroof. The one I rented did not have one. But I am not the type to stick my head through a sunroof, anyway!

You may be able to find info about the sunroofs at this site: http://www.lctmag.com/

Since you didn't have to pay, that makes it even more fun!

The one you were in was almost for sure one of these three:
1. Lincoln
2. Cadillac
3. Chrysler

Most common currently are the Lincolns.

Thanks, Marlene. It is very tempting to rent one again! Maybe I will. If so, more photos and videos, for sure. :D

OH Nuts!

I never rode in a limo. It would be fun to do it once I suppose, but I'd only do it if it was someone else's treat. (Unless I win Lotto!) But I know you're really into cars so I'm glad you had a blast. The pictures are great.

It would become very expensive if done regularly, that's for sure.

Speaking of the lotto, if I ever do win a big jackpot, I would certainly have parked, in my mansion's garage, a stretch Lincoln limousine with an on-call chauffeur!

Yes, I think the photos came out well. The interior of the limo was dark due to the heavy tint, but the camera flash was sufficient.

Well, glad you had a nice time! Even though it's kind of pricey, since you really like it, maybe you can do it every now and then.

Yes, maybe once or twice a year. I sure wouldn't mind riding in one again!
