Here is a song about a boy's selfless love for his mother and a stranger's generosity to help him by his mom some Christmas shoes.

I'm surprised this song didn't bring any replies. It's about a little boy bringing christmas to his dying mother and a stranger does the christian thing and helps him out. Sorry for the 20 second commercial.

Yes this song always does make me cry :(

I've noticed sometimes the BEST threads don't get replies sadly.

Please define best threads or better yet post links to these threads that got no replies. This thread has gotten 36 views so far and that would seem to indicate someone was at least interested enough to read it. I personally think that making comments about a thread not receiving replies is ridiculous especially when it was posted just over 24 hours ago. It might have helped if it had been posted in the music forum and if Janice or anyone else wants to move it there it's fine by me.

It's about a little boy who is about to lose his mother and he wanted to give her a last christmas present. And a stranger did a christian thing and helped the little boy out. I realized a lot you guys are Christians, so I was surprised by the lack of replies, because I thought this thread would touch you guys emotionally. I'm sorry to complained too early. But I thought this would of gotten a lot of replies by now.

You can expect this to be NUN INTO THE GROUND From Thanksgiving to Christmas along with:

Do They Know it's Christmastime at all

Happy Christmas (The War is over)

Some Day at Christmas

and a Boatload of others

Even though it does get played quite a ton, I still love "The Christmas Shoes"- it is a beautiful story about a boy wanting Mama to look beautiful if she meets Jesus tonight. (Of course, I ignore the theological point that Mama would be a soul in Heaven and have a new body and most likely not have need for shoes- but that's not worth quibbling about- lol. I know the boy didn't quite understand all those Biblical teachings just yet of course.)
It's a great song and I love it- Newsong did a wonderful job with it. Of course, Christmas is not all about giving, as the song seems to indicate. Christmas is all about getting! It's about getting the best present ever when God sent Jesus to be our Savior- to die on the cross and rise again to give salvation to all those who put their faith in Him!:)
(Though we certainly should be generous in giving to others as God has been generous to us- and because He commands it.)

Well I've noticed it happening quite a bit, not just here but on MANY sites. Especially someone will make a topic and someone will reply with a GOOD reply and it gets totally ignored, then other ppl will reply with silly non-sense, and those will get 20 replies.

OR, Someone will reply with a good insightful response and it will et ingored, then someone else will reply with an almost identical response, and they will resond to that one with "Thank you, GREAT insight!" And totally ignore the first person who originally answered.

I didn't like the song or the video. I thought the lyrics were corny and I thought the "acting" was really bad.

Very boring! I don't understand how anybody could take that stupid song or video seriously.

I'd rather watch the dopey Kmart commercial for Joe Boxer under-shorts with the men jingling their bells.

Yes, at least the Kmart commercial is uplifting and funny.

The Christmas shoes song/video is just too boring, almost laughable with the horrid lyrics and feeble attempts at acting. Actually, it is quite laughable.

ATTEMPT is right! And their attempt failed miserably with me and with my friends who have seen and heard this nonsense. We laughed at it. It also nearly bored me to the point of unconsciousness....then I started laughing again.

The Christmas shoes thing fails to tug at my heart strings. A Christmas video that has true emotion is a video from Little House on the Prairie when Laura trades her beloved horse to Nells Oleson for a stove to give to her Ma for Christmas. That was real acting and it really did happen. Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote about it in her books. That episode had meaning for me. I can't get with fake crap like the Christmas shoes nonsense. Just laughable, phony, feebleness.

Glad to hear you overcame your unconsciousness  That was a beautiful episode. I miss the classic Christmas commercials. My favorite is the Budweiser Clydesdales pulling a sled.

Far to treacly for my taste.

Ages ago, I had an office manager who would always play Xmas music at her desk starting in December. We were a pretty tolerant crowd, but EVERY time that song came on, somebody (sometimes the manager herself) would shriek "Drink!" and you would hear eruptions of giggles from throughout the cube farm.

That Little House episode is one of my favorites but I have read the Little House books a hundred times and there is nothing in them that remotely relates to that episode. The episode is pure fiction.
